Typical, average, mediocre and predictable are words that describe Black Pond. The beers are okay, but not special. Since moving to a larger facility, they do offer a variety of whisky as well as canned pre-made cocktails and wine and get points for that. My husband and I stopped in early evening to try it out. There are picnic tables outside and they were full. Dogs are allowed outside. Inside there is a bar and basic tables. There is also a room for events. It is in a former machine shop so acoustics are horrible and it tends to be loud. They do have food available. A number of special events were displayed including a whisky dinner. The service was decent. It is reasonably clean. There are three restrooms. It is now handicap accessible through the side door. Parking is adequate.

No one has reviewed this place in a while and apparently lots has changed (including, probably, the location). We stopped by after hiking Wolf's Den. Cozy and clean, great flight. On a whim I added the Machu Picchu and glad I did. Didn't order food because of time constraints but it looked and smelled delicious. Will definitely come back, even though out of the way for me, just to try pairings of beer and food.

After moving to the area a year ago we finally stopped in. Low key atmosphere and good beers. Perfect back yard area to sit and enjoy. Btw, the cat is a regular.

This place is tiny and makes amazing beer. The location; town is quaint and old New England. If you’re a brewery fan then you need to go. We can’t wait to return!

Little hole in wall with darn good beer. FYI GPS and web says Danielson CT with same street address. Will definitely return if in area!

I had a few of their beers around town and figured I would stop in to try the brewery. It is very small and in the basement of a bike shop and that is exactly what it feels like. If you were going to a buddies awesome basement bar, this is what you would hope to find. 6 wall taps and stone foundation walls. Friendly staff/brewers, Ok beer, no food but if you are a local or a regular then you may bump into someone you know. The beers are less flavorful than many others I have had over the years but I've also had worse.

Our goal is to go to all 50 microbreweries in Connecticut and stopped at Black Pond to do some sampling. The guys who work there are friendly and informative. We loved their D-Burg IPA and sampled their Imperial Stout which was quite tasty. If in the area, a define tasting is recommended!

Not all craft beer breweries are worth a visit. Black Pond Brews was a huge disappointment. I live to support local craft brewing companies! I have visited 218 craft breweries over the last several years. Black Pond ranks at the bottom of the list in terms of taste and quality. Of the six beers that we sampled they all missed the mark. The Periodyc (Belgian Table Beer) and CT Uncommon (California Common Lager) both were lacking flavor. Both of their IPAs had a strange unenjoyable taste to them. The jalapeno flavor in the Machu Picchu (Jalapeño Saison) was too overpowering. I felt like cat trying clear a hairball from my throat after drinking it. Black Pond is not worth a return visit.

Stopped here while on a recent brewery tour. The beer was a big let down. It had an odd taste to me. We didn't have much interaction with staff as they were interacting more with regulars.
The only good thing about this brewery was the price. A flight of six beers for $6.00.

Mystic village is a great ace to walk around . It looks like a restored village and has a duck pins an watershed to frees the ducks. There is a variety of shops, resteraunts; go fish ,and steak loft, movie theater, laundermat,and the aquarium all in the same parking lot. In the fall they have trick or treat for kids. I took my 4 sons for years and hope to be able to go when they have kids. The festival of lights in December is a nice Christmas event that we went to for years and still do. The summer there are craft shows like taste of mystic and craft shows. Did I mention the ice cream store or the bakery? I love the village and have shopped in those stores since 1989 when we moved here and still love it. Have fun! Tell em I sent you!
