I've heard about this bridge for a while and was only now able to visit, and instantly regretted not having visited earlier. This beautiful bridge is a well-preserved historical reminder of 19th-century metal truss bridges and traverses the Farmington River. It's covered in potted flowers that add an incredibly romantic feeling to the bridge, and even though this bridge is in central Simsbury, it's set back far enough that you don't feel the traffic. This bridge is only open to foot/bike traffic; there's a small parking lot adjacent to the bridge, and a couple of picnic tables. There are a couple of small footpaths by the bridge where you can approach the water. It's a quiet, beautiful place to enjoy the scenery.

Visiting Simsbury. When I was young we drove over this bridge one care one way at a time. Closed now and decorated with flowers over the river. Pavilion and benches for sitting. Brought back memories.

Built in the late 1800's, this passage lies over the Farmington River. The Old Drake is a unique bridge (one of the three surviving Parker truss bridges) and is and great place used by hikers, bicyclists and pedestrians. It is also a great backdrop for special occasion photos.

Founded in the 1640s, Simsbury Connecticut offers the perfect New England town experience--well recorded history, plenty of paths and parks to visit, old church marking the center of town with plenty of unique shops to walk amongst and browse. Tack on a couple of notable restaurants, you could easily make a day of it. Not to be missed is this sweet little metal-trussed bridge original from 1892. It used to see vehicular traffic however in keeping with its preservation for the ages, it was converted to foot only action in 1992 less than 10 years after being put on the National Register of Historic Places. The beautiful floral arrangements surrounding it and gracing it’s nooks and crannies are all by donation, some of which are directed as memorials with specific intent or persons in mind. There are places to sit and reflect, which is just what you feel like doing surrounded by such tranquil stunning visuals--that is after you’ve walked up and down the bridge a couple of times to take it all in

Probably something you need to see in Simsbury, unique and really only a 15 minute stop. Parking area with restrooms and you walk across the bridge.

A great spot for both flower viewing and photo opportunities. Stopped in with our family to check out all the flower boxes, and to take several memorable photos of our visit. Worth the stop.

The flower bridge is a nice stop if you are in town.walk around and take some pictures of the bridge, river, and flowers.

What a gorgeous place! We were in town seeing the art trail and 2 people told us to see this. It was well worth it. They have parking, benches and even clean port a johns.

If you are in the area its a beautiful place to stop. The bridge is lined on both sides with beautiful flower boxes and hanging baskets. At the beginning of the bridge is a list of all the flowers that are in bloom there.

Its a beautifully restored Berlin truss bridge and the town has just restored/built a very nice park in proximity to the bridge.
