Hi, I am a local who in his teen years was an Usher at the Capitol Theatre for three years. My name is Rick L. Johnson. I was an entry level usher in 1978 from the assistance of my best friend and local hero Gerald W. Mayan who also worked there and was killed in an Osprey Aircraft testing accident several years ago now. It was a great job and experience and each time an employee was needed, our boss would get us to see if we had another "friend" that he could hire. Consequently, we had about five teenage High School friends all working there. Times change but those days were the best. To the point now. I have recently researched, written and yes even published now, a book on certain enlightenment I have received, "There Is A Doorway" and I am pursuing a book launch locally in the very near future. Hoping to stir some interest with this explorative post. Anyone..?

Used to be on the Board of this Center for the Arts. The resurrected circa. 1904 Capitol Theater, is where I saw my first movie as a child . It seats a about 550 people in the balcony or lower level. Now owned by Delaware State University and Wesley College who are not supporting entertainment in the theater. It is a lovey building and a noble project of community leaders. Would like to see it resurrected.

Great place, but was unsupportable without financing from outside sources. Too many acts with $35/person tickets and 10-ticket sales when they could have been doing classic movie nights at $5 or $10 - shrug

We just visited the theatre to see a performance of "The Civil War" and we really liked the venue. It's a relatively small theatre, comfortable seating, and good sound quality. We'll certainly come back again in the future.

The Schwartz offers a variety of first rate entertainment - drama and comedy plays, dance and music, performing artists, and even a movie now and then. This grand old theater in Dover, DE, has been renovated to its former glory while providing modern comforts for the patrons. Every seat in the house appears to be a good one. Stage lighting and sound are top quality. Theater acoustics are very good. Prices for the various performances are very reasonable. Concessions are available to even include alcoholic beverages. Every time my wife and I have attended a performance at the Schwartz Center it has been a wonderful experience.

Great musical performance. Inspiring life stories and messages of performers all over 55 years old. Positive life lessons as well as amazing voices of people who have courageously found their voices later in life. Great for family and friends.

We went here in November and saw Shrek the Musical and it was done very well! The theatre is small but beautiful! Wonderful place!

The restored Schwartz Center for the Arts is a terrific amenity for downtown Dover. It's a smaller venue with reasonably comfortable seating. I've seen music and ballet there and it's always a good time with nice clear views of the stage and decent acoustics.

We have seen many shows here from Children's shows to concerts, to trained dogs. they have all been fun and well worth the money. The kids had a blast at Peter Pan.
