Went for a Sunday drive from Calgary to school this out and not disappointed. It is very small and can be completed in about 10 mins, has a cute little gift shop as well and washrooms. I WS shocked to see the world map with how many pins were on it from all over the world!!! A little feed bonus is the walking tour u can do with a map of all the painted fire hydrants. Worth a visit.

As a fan of weird roadside attractions, this one is a 6 out of 5 for me. Absolute best of the best stuff. It is located in a very rural community about 1+ hours outside Calgary. As the story was told to us, the train stopped coming to the town of Torrington. When a train stops coming to a farm community, the population takes a dramatic drop. The government offered funds to create a tourist attraction and the remaining residents voted to create this beautiful gopher attraction. I feel other towns would have just made some boring history museum no one would ever visit. Instead, people detour here from all over the world. The museum is in a small, one room unit and features about 40 or so dioramas about life in Torrington during their boom days. Most of them have a humorous slant to them and are very entertaining. The museum runs off donations and souvenir sales. Be sure to support this attraction if you do visit as every dollar helps them out. If you do not find the unusual amusing, you may not care for it. But for those that do, you should take the detour and eat it up. It is perhaps the best use of government grant funds ever.

Entrance is by donation. Very cute and nice things in the gift shop. Worth stopping by and seeing. Small but nice.

For for a day trip from Edmonton and stopped by the Gopher Museum. It was busy, there was a line up outside as there is not a lot of wiggle room inside. Enjoyed the displays lots of attention to detail and some were quite funny. The greeter was very informative. After the museum went on the Gopher fire hydrant hunt. Great stop on a sunny day in Alberta.

We visited this small museum in Torrington. A friendly lady greeted us and gave us a bit of the history of the place.
We walked around looking at the little displays with a smile on our faces. What a unique place.
There is a small gift shop and a clean washroom was available.
There is also a local walk to look at the themed fire hydrants.
Worth visiting if you are in the area.

Endroit très sympathique, mais petit. Accueil très chaleureux, personnel avenant, disponible pour répondre aux questions. Les enfants ont aimé, mais avaient évidemment des questions sur comment et qui s'occupait d'empailler les animaux! À faire si vous passez dans le coin.

We saw it on Heartland and loved it from from afar. Where else would you find a testimonial to industrious gophers. Next time in Alberta our visit won’t be virtual. In the age of COVID I am over living virtually.

Definitely, something to stop in at least once and view. The creativity and attention to detail stand out but some displays also show a good dose of humour. Friendly staff and a nice little town.

Nestled in the small village of Torrington, it is totally worth it! A small donation gets you into the museum of dioramas with gophers in different lifelike situations. They strive to update them regularity and worth a laugh if you don’t take it too seriously!
