We chose Florida Keys Sailing because you sail and stay on the boat. We wanted a real experience of sailing in the ocean. We got that and so much more from Captain GDub! He knows sailing and what you learn from the book he translates to the skills on the water. A lot of stuff can happen when sailing but he generously turns it all into teaching moments and with a sense of humor! We certified in ASA 101 and 103 and will be back for more training. Thanks Captain GDub!

GDub is the best old salty dog you will find! My husband and I did the ‘Fast Tack’ ASA 101, 103, and 104 sailing course. We had been sailing small catamarans and thought we needed someone to show us the ropes on some bigger sail boats so we could feel confident in getting out there and eventually charter our own boats without a captain. GDub delivered! We started on Salina and moved up to Allergic reaction (37 ft beneteau) after two days. Beneteau has two berths, a mini kitchen w stove and fridge, ice box, and a marine toilet and shower. Slept on the boats every night. Two nights we spent anchored out (away from the marina) with the coastline visible. It was a deep dive into sailing, docking, navigation, boat maintenance, boat purchasing considerations, and mechanics. He isn’t scared to teach you close quarter maneuvering in the marina and give you what you need to learn. GDub is so extremely knowledgeable and his main goal is to teach you as much as possible. As he says, “my job is for you to kick me off this boat”! Thanks GDub!

Just finished a week of sailing with Captain GDub ASA10,103,104. We truly wanted to learn sailing as we are considering a life style change, my husband did some research and found captain GDub we drove from Charleston SC to Florida Keys. I can’t write enough about Captain GDub process of learning, retaining and applying in drills and practice. He was worth the expense drive and technical practical knowledge we acquired. We thank him and recommend him. Our bareboat on Allergic Reaction was on point, the gradual progression from Salina basics to bareboat was just very methodical. Thank you Mike, Mona, Julian

Our family of 4 came to Marathon key for vacation and on the "things to do" list was a half day introduction to sailing adventure! Gdub delivered! He answered all our questions and with the goal of having us take away basic sailing knowledge, had my son sailing as soon as we left the marina. A wonderful time and an excellent hands on patient teacher. Looking forward to our next sailing adventure!

We tried to reserve a sunset sail; had to leave a message.
Got a reply, “reserve via the website.” So we tried the site.
Absolutely no reply.
So we went elsewhere. The *other* company actually answered, and we spent a few hundred bucks on a wonderful time.

My wife and I just completed our ASA 103 & 104 Training with Captain GDub. There are many places to get this training but I am so glad we chose Florida Keys Sailing. Captain GDub has such a passion for teaching excellent sailing skills that he helped me to remember why I love sailing in the first place!!!

My husband and I just completed our ASA103/104 with G-Dub. Our expectations were exceeded as we received more hands on experience and knowledge to build on our skills than the class requirements. I researched over 19 ASA schools in Florida. I then narrowed the research down to 4 locations. I selected Florida Keys Sailing because of the personal class size (just the 2 of us) and schedule accommodations. Since we both work full time schedule was important to make sure we could get the time off from work. We highly recommend G-Dub and Florida Keys Sailing!

I found Florida Keys Sailing School through the ASA sailing lessons website, but chose GDub because of his reviews.
My guy and I were able to find a rare opening in GDub's teaching schedule to get our ASA104 course and testing in April. We asked to arrive the evening before our date and stay on the boat, and GDub was very gracious and gave us that opportunity. This allowed us to familiarize with the boat that evening, get comfortable and make sure that our gear was stashed properly. The Florida Fisheries Marina (not sure of the real name) but the restaurant is fantastic and does great business, became our home. We were on Allergic Reaction, a beautiful Beneteau, which is similar to a lux RV, has a nice kitchen and cabin and a choice of 2 berths.
GDub is a sensational instructor, believing that experience of sailing is as important as the practical knowledge. We had some rough weather, so we sailed in mostly small craft warning conditions, but I think that gave us opportunities to learn. We enjoyed the first-first mate Daisy who accompanies GDub most of the time. We spent some time mastering the docking as the slip is situated in a challenging way. We would definitely choose GDub again and are making plans to come down again and bareboat through him.
AND we both passed the certification, so AHOY!

Had a great night on the water. The two hour trip took us sightseeing on the gulf side down to Seven Mile Bridge. Although the wind did not cooperate, our captain and his fury first mate made the evening very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this trip. Do call ahead as the captain does book up because this trip is so popular. The sailboat is kept at near the Keys Fishery so dinner here after the evening sail is also a must.

We are two couples, neighbors, retired, early 60's, living in south Florida. This was our second 3 Day sail with Capt. GDub on the Sayonara. We sailed with him last year on another 3 Day outing. We experienced rough seas and high winds, not what we are accustomed to for what we envisioned would be an encore cruise of our last pleasurable trip. But... that is sailing and there are always new things to learn, like getting the mainsail hoisted in bumpy waters. We are novice sailors with 3 years experience, and have passed our ASA courses. Even so... it was really great to have GDub to rely on for expert guidance, and good laughs to get us through. When sailing always keep in mind to expect the unexpected and you'll always be gaining in experience. Until next time....

Thanks Peter, another year and still some great times ahead. To those reading this, in truth, the “unexpected” was difficult for any sailor and I was fortunate to have these with me.
