Call ahead and sign up for the free tour. Added benefits if you do. We spent two and a half hours in the morning, including the tour, left for lunch and came back to walk and explore the 63 acres on our own. We would not have enjoyed it half as much if we didn't go on the tour first.

What an awesome hidden gem!

My teenage son and his friend were just walking around when they discovered this place. It was already closed. So the next day we went as a family. It was awesome! Lots of history and nature mixed in. The volunteers/ambassadors were friendly and knowledgeable. The cashier was also friendly, quick and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit.

Hammock tour

We’ve been before and walked around on our own. This time we took the tour. Ronnie was super informative about the plants and animals. Highly recommend the tour there are some places you only see with a guide and you learn so much more. Who knew there was a poisonous tree!

Best and most beautiful tour in all the Keys

Crane Point is a must see nature wonderland! Absolutely take the complimentary 8 person trolley ride, as this, apparently, the only way to see inside the beautifully restored Crane home. Colin was a fantastic guide, so full of knowledge, obviously loving his volunteer career...and so adorable when other volunteers showed us the tree snail! Kudos to this community for caring for this gem!!!

We have somehow missed this wonderful park and museum experience on previous visits to the Florida Keys. The park offers numerous trails that wind through various types of mangroves. This was both an educational and a delightful experience. In addition to learning about the land, there is the Adderley home that was occupied by a Bahamian family a century ago, and the Crane home that was built in 1954, where you can get a fish pedicure. It was so enjoyable, my friend and I walked 2 miles from our home to get another pedicure! There are 2 African tortoises that were entertaining, as well as a butterfly garden and a bird rehabilitation center. A new aviary is being built for them. Bee hives provide honey for sale in the gift shop. There are picnic tables if you want to take a picnic. Be sure and view the short video when you start out.

Excellent Nature Center & History of Marathon

Terrific! We thoroughly enjoyed the Crane Point Museum & Nature Center. Starting with the video, we learned the history of the Nature Center. Then strolling the nature trails we gained insight into the various trees, their purpose, the impact of the hammocks and challenges in maintaining this Florida Nature Center. The Cracker house educated us on early life inFlorida. It was intriguing to see the Adderley Village and House. This was very educational on how Adderley lived and details of how he searched for sponges and made charcoal. Walking to the Crane House we admired both the home and vision of the Cranes to preserve and save the property. The Fish pedicure was so much fun. It does tickle as the tiny fish nibble on your feet and toes. At The Point we enjoyed the view, the wreckage of old boats and seeing schools of parrot fish going under the bridge. We also strolled thru the Wild Bird Center. We toured the Museum after our walk. Extremely impressed with the Nature Center. We only had an afternoon to explore Marathon and the Nature Center was perfect.

The highlight of our visit was the museum. Very well done exhibits. Getting a fish pedicure while walking on the nature trail is a fun experience and is something that you should try.

One of the Best Tours in the Florida Keys

My friends and I discovered Crane Point when visiting Marathon Florida. By far it was one of my top experiences when visiting the Florida Keys. I loved that it was an outdoor experience that provided insight into how the area developed, the architecture and structures of the early Marathon community, and a greater understanding of the nature and habitat of the area. We took the guided tour via the little shuttle. Our volunteer guide was knowledgable and personable and provided insights we would not have gleaned had we walked the property on our own. You are not able to enter the Crane home without taking the tour and we loved being able to see the inside of the home and learn a bit about the family. You also get to tour the Adderly House and learn about the first settlers on the point.

I highly recommend this opportunity. It was reasonable priced and well worth visiting.

Fish pedicures!

Looking for something to do and to talk a walk, we checked out this place. It was a fun visit. Kids loved seeing the birds and the turtles. The museum was interesting and of course the fish pedicures were loved by all. We will definitely come again!
