Sadly the Plaza Theater has closed after the shopping center was renovated a few years ago. We still shop & eat dinner at the Plaza but miss having the theatre option in Manalipan FL. The last show we saw there for our anniversary in May 2018 was Frank Lloyd Webber Tribute which was fantastic!!

Marvelous theater. Every seat is great. We saw a terrific show.. I wish I lived closer.
We saw the show consisting of songs by Jolson and Canter ..... was marvelous listening to good music for a change.

My mother is a huge fan of Johnny Mercer music, so when we saw Johnny Lariviere was going to be singing his hits we eagerly bought tickets.
The venue was small and intimate and we anticipated a wonderful evening of Johnny Mercer music. Within minutes we sat in what can only be described as pure disappointment.
The pianist played SO LOUDLY that it drowned out Johnny Lariviere. After a few songs we realized the pianist was doing a public service!
Johnny Lariviere has what I would describe as a nasal quality to his singing. However, the icing on the cake was when Mr. Lariviere completely forgot the lyrics to one of the songs!
As my mother said later, "had this been on TV she would have changed the channel!"

When I walked to my seat, I noticed lots of women in the audience -- was I at taping of The View? Made to feel at home immediately from curtain speech to cast members mingling in the lobby after the show. Cast was fantastic and there was a scene midway that no one expected. Lots of laughter and just a fun evening for me and all my new women friends!! Will be checking the theater schedule for future shows!

My friends know that I go to a lot of local theatre plays and musicals. I love live theatre. My enthusiasm has grown since discovering The Plaza Theatre. This spring, I attended my first performance at The Plaza Theatre in Manalapan, Florida. I had always wanted to go but thought it was too far. It is not. I live in Jupiter and the drive is 35 - 41 minutes -- I timed it. If you live from West Palm Beach to Boca Raton, probably 20 minutes or less.
I attended RAGS and was enthralled by the professional acting, amazing vocals and harmonies, and the overall experience in this intimate, 250 seat theatre. I see other theatres advertise shows, I go see them, and I end up disappointed. Not here! From the friendly box office staff to the meet and greet after the show, I loved the theatre.
Next I attended RENT, a teen production, also in the main theatre. I took my 16 year old son. We both enjoyed it. I was so impressed with the cast. Their training and coaching in the performing arts showed as they sang, acted, and danced their hearts out. Even the audience was enthusiastic. It was nice to see so many young people interested in the arts and supporting their friends in the show. What was particularly special was the following weekend, when the young actors and The Plaza Theatre staff, presented an encore of RENT and held a fundraiser for AIDS.
Also, I attended BROADWAY SECOND BANANAS. That was held in The Plaza Theatre's additional space, Club Plaza. I attended with a friend who has physical handicaps and uses a walker for mobility. I called and asked about accessibility and I was pleased that there would be no issue. We arrived and were directed to the elevator/lift. We were greeted at the top by a staff who kindly seated us near the stage and also close to the exit, which my friend appreciated. Beth Dimon put on a fantastic show that night. She used a variety of mechanics to sing throaty burlesque-ish songs and sweet ballads. What was so special to me is that a piano bar followed and we decided to stay. I was so glad we did. Ms. Dimon stayed in the audience and later joined the piano guy for a few songs. There were impromptu "open mike" opportunities and the piano player, fresh from a cruise ship, was talented and entertaining. Later that night, a couple of clearly professional singers, joined in the open mike. Come to find out, they were from Cougar the Musical. We were so lucky to hear them that night. I remembered Clay, one of the actor/singers from Cougar, who I had previously seen at Slow Burn in The Wedding Singer. I believe he will be in more musicals at The Plaza Theatre. The Plaza is at the top of my list for plays and musicals as well as cabaret going forward. Don't miss Joseph at the end of July. I can't wait to see the theatre kids put on my favorite musical. I understand that Mia Matthews (Every Which Witch/Nickelodeon) will be performing in SHE LOVES ME. Also, check out the rest of the summer line-up and the 2014-2015 brochure. Looking forward to Bernstein on Broadway, Forever Plain (November) and Phantom this winter.

I've been to the plaza many times and I have seen tons of shows there that for the most part I am very pleased with. The quality of the shows are very high and they have a good variety with shows for everyone.

Having seen several shows at The Plaza Theatre in Manalapan it can best be described as a Gem that is off the beaten path. Most people look for culture and entertainment in large cities and do not realize this special venue delivers such an amazing experience. The theatre is clean and beautiful, the shows are professional and stunning, the prices are very affordable and the staff are all kind and courteous. The atmosphere is what I love most and all seats feel up close and personal. It feels like the production is for you personally! The plaza and surrounding area has much to offer and the Plaza Theater has their own piano bar next door. Do yourself a huge favor and attend one of their shows.......I am sure you will enjoy it immensely.
