Was einem sofort zu den anderen Regionen hier in Südwest FL auffällt ist die Ruhe und Entschleunigung die hier zu herrschen scheint.
Größere Gebäudekomplexe sucht man vergebens. Die kleinen und teilweise bunt angestrichenen Häuser versetzen einen in die Welt der Karibik mit einem Hauch des alten Key West (nicht zu vergleichen mit dem heutigen, touristischen Trubel) und Ernest Hemingway.
Die Galerien diverser Künstler, Restaurants am Wasser oder auch Bars mit Live Music laden zum bummeln und verweilen ein.
Massentourismus ist hier ein Fremdwort. Es scheint eher so, als ob die Uhren hier anders ticken.
Für jemanden, der Ruhe und Entspannung sucht ist dieser Ort genau der Richtige!!

Ein schöner kleiner und sehr gepflegter Park, der einiges zu bieten hat: Grillstationen, Kinderspielplatz, Bootrampe, Kanurampe, Fishing Pier, Basketballfeld, Parkmöglichkeiten. Hier kann man schon ein paar Stunden ins entspannter Atmosphäre verbringen.

My husband and I had eaten at the Blue Dog and decided to stop here and walk around. Even in the off-season, the park was busy.
The park is very nice and clean, with no litter or problems. It was quite peaceful and there was a lot of parking available.

Nice fishing pier, facilities to launch your boat, have a picnic, walk the pet and playground for kids. The parking is free and $10 fee to launch the boat. Clean and convenient.

Pier closed for two years in a row. Hope to use it one day soon, under new construction. We did find another small pier to fish in the park, caught nothing, but a nice area. Clean well maintained park with huge restrooms that were kept up. Nice park

Nice for a walk or watch the sea life and birds. It is a good place to go for a walk, fish, view the 'flats' and enjoy the outdoors. Lots of parking and restrooms are available.

This is a large park for the size of the town, rather hidden off the road. Great little playground and lots of picnic area plus rest room facilities. There is a boat lunch. We arrived early in Matlacha before things were open so just parked, walked around a little, and sat and read - very peaceful.

You can launch a boat or have your kids play on the playground. There is a nice walking path and a fishing pier. Also a kayak launch and a community center complete the highlights.

This is a great picnic spot and there are plenty of covered areas to get out of the sun and enjoy the water. There is often plenty of parking even when the street parking is full.

Are they ever going to reopen fishing pier?

This is not original on my part: The Matlacha Fishing Pier located at Matlacha Park, 4577 Pine Island Road, Matlacha, has been closed until further notice due to unsafe conditions.
This is the result of an on-site inspection earlier this week.
Staff from Lee County Parks & Recreation and Lee County Facilities Construction & Management will work with a contractor to evaluate and resolve the pier's issue.
All amenities at Matlacha Park except the pier remain open with regular hours.
Fishing opportunities are available immediately east of the Matlacha Pier at Bat House Park, 4445 Pine Island Road, in Matlacha.
Are they ever going to open the fishing pier?

The Matlacha Community Park is a nice place, although not very large. You might like taking your pet over to Sirenia Vista Park at 3916 Ceitus Parkway in Cape Coral, which is about three minutes from Matlacha. It's about 8 acres. You might even see some manatees while you're there. The park is "pet friendly."
