We started from the trail head behind Publix (Placida & S McCall Road). There is a parking lot for the trailhead. There was an old bunk house from 1907 and bathrooms by the parking lot. We walked about a mile down the road and then turned around and came back. The trail is totally straight (I believe it is where am old railroad line was. ). The trail is paved and well maintained. The section we walked was about 95% in the sun. We saw geckos, a squirrel, an osprey and 12 bikers.

I love to run on this trail. Fairly shady if you are out early before 9am. Full sun later. There are several access places with parking if you don't want to do the whole trail. Great views from the Coral Creek bridge section.

Noon walk not to hot. Walk from end of tail 1.5 mikes and out to bridge.Saw Some birds and fish jumping.

My wife and I go down there periodically, every couple of weeks, to do birding while fishermen and fisherwomen are trying to catch supper. Breezy yesterday so the birds weren't very active. A good place to see White and Brown Pelicans, herons, egrets and boats. The dock platform seems to be on the old railroad bridge that went to Boca Grande. This is just a walking path, they have porta-potties at the parking area. NO need for WiFi out on the dock.

This is a there and back walk, if you do the whole thing it is over 7 miles in one direction. You can shorten the walk by starting at Rotonda and walking in either direction to reduce the length. It is also and easy bike ride as the whole trail is a hard surface. We did it on a partly cloudy day but i would not do it when it is hot and sticky as you could get dehydrated.
There was not much wildlife on show the day we did it but that was our misfortune.

This is the perfect bike/walking trail from McCall Rd to the beginning of Boca Grande. This 7.5 mile trail is flat yet very scenic in several spots. There are 3 parking lots along the way if you don't want to walk or bike the full length that allows you to start/stop for shorter distances. This is a great trail.

Good long ride path, well paved all the way, love the bridge over the creek, makes the ride to Boca Grande much easier.

I have lived near this trail for years and have really enjoyed the rides I have taken. Plenty of trees that cross through some scenic landscapes. Often see Gopher tortoises, snakes, various birds and a bald eagles' nest with yearly visitors. There are also many rabbis and wild pigs. Be careful during the summer months as the heat & humidity can get to you fast. Also, be sure to have sun screen & bug repellent.

Living near this trail has been one of the highlights of my last few years. Plenty of trees (giving shade at certain times of the day) and crossing through some gorgeous landscapes. Gopher tortoises abound, there's a bald eagles' nest with yearly visitors, river otters near the Coral Creek bridge, scrub jays, cardinals, and the occasional bobcat.. At dusk you will have to avoid the cotton-tail rabbits and possibly some feral pigs. I usually cycle it -- although there are few good spots to go off the trail and hike - and I'm just glad I haven't collided with a wild pig..

This is a great trail to bike on and a nice park to take a break in. The trail and park are also nicely maintained.
