We used this company this past weekend renting a 20 ft boat. Great time. Great staff. Very helpful. My suggestion as you know I pull no punches in my reviews, PLEASE arrive early and study the map, study the boating rules (markers, etc.) and ask the staff all your questions. This will make your time so much more fun than guessing and making the locals mad. The boat we had was is perfect shape. We will use this company again for a longer trip.

I attempted to rent a boat from these people 2 weekends in a row. I went there (we live locally) gave them my info, inclusing a credit card for the deposit and made a reservation a few days in advance. A storm came by the day before my reservation, so Julie called and said that the insurance company would not allow them to rent any boats because of the small craft advisory. Ok I can understand that. The very next week, I did the same thing, but this time I was told that there was only 1 boat that I could rent for a half day. It is called yellow. (The week before, I was booked for a different boat. The one called Navy). Same kind of situation happens the night before the supposed rental. I get a phone call saying that the boat has been damaged today and that there were others, but they are not available because of maintenance. I can't say for sure, but it seems like they just don't want to rent to me. My wife and children have been devistated 2 weeks in a row because of this. Luckily for us, we live in the Tampa Bay area and there are several other options.

We tried to rent a boat from them for a day, but after checking if they have insurance in case of accident or damage, they told us that if we are worried about that they have to decline renting to us and just hung up. Very strange, I would think that it would be standard for a boat rental company to insure their boats or offer the customer to pay for it, but that's just me. Sorry that it did not work out.

My friends and I did a 4 hour rental from here and went out to Shell island for the afternoon. We had a great experience with the couple who owns the boats and they were very helpful. The boat we rented ran well and we had no issues all day. I recommend being at the rental place around 40 minutes early so you can get out on time. If I had to do it over again we would have done 8 hours because it takes about 45 minutes to get out to Shell and back which only leaves ya around 2 hours on the beach once you anchor and such. Our gas ran us around $45 for the day as well for those who were wondering. Will be a repeat customer!

We have a huge repeat clientele and love when people call us to tell us they are coming back in town and want to rent a boat again.

While staying next door at Boca Ciega, we decided a boat ride would be nice. Sonwe went over to Mad Beach Boat Rentals. They suggested a 4 hour rental, so we could go out to Shell Island at an easy pace. Upon the pickup we got a boat that was just back in the water after service. A nice 4-stroke in perfect conditions and with low gasusage. Contract and legal matters were explained clearly and Eric told us everything we needed to know about the boat and our trip. All in all we look back at a plasant trip and a good experience!

Thanks for renting from us. It is always My and Julie's goal to make sure everyone who rents from us has a great experience. Our beautiful area certainly looks different from the water and I think getting,out on the water is a must do while on vacation... We hope you return to see us the next time you visit from Holland...

Everyone was super nice, the boat was very nice, location was good. However after we arrived and signed the paperwork we were told we couldn't go further than the tourist area of Shell Island. The whole reason for our trip was to go to an island just past shell island that we had been to a few weeks earlier. If you are wanting to go to any sand banks or islands past Shell I would not rent from here. We were very bummed, the kids were bummed, and honestly we could have driven to nicer beaches. We were going to rent a boat from the same Marina we rented from last time, however we didn't reserve a boat enough time in advance. Next time we will just make sure to reseve with the other Marina weeks in advance. If you are wanting to just go for a boat ride this place will work for you.

Good morning. Thank you for the review of your experience. Unfortunately we do not allow our boats into the Gulf of Mexico for the safety of our guests. The area you are referring to is a sandbar in the Gulf of Mexico. None of the boat rental companies in our area allow the boats in the Gulf for the same reasons as us except one company in Tierra Verde, 10 minutes from that particular sand bar. I will be glad to refer you to them on your next trip. They however charge $200'more per day for their boats then we do.
We do send folks 9 miles or 45 minutes down the intercoastal waterway to beautiful Shell Key It has been named one of the best beaches in Florida for several years running and our guests rave about it.

We rented a small center console boat for 2 hours. The rental process was very easy and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. We had a great time and the price of $99 was awesome!

Rented a 17' boat withmy sister for 4 hours. Our intent was to anchor out at Shell Island for a bit and enjoy the intercoastal waterway views. The boat was older, which was fine, however after one hour we began having trouble with the engine. Everytime we accelerated, it would choke out and stall. Then it wouldn't stay running even at the lowest speed...it took us so long to get out to Shell Island...we decided we should just head back...after making little progress with the constantly stalling boat, we called in and were advised to loosen the gas cap and pump the gas line to get gas flow. We did that and the engine started...but before long, we found ourselves having to do that every 5 minutes as the boat would continually power down and stall. Eventally, we simply ran out of gas because apparently the gas tank wasn't full when we left. We had to be towed in.
To add insult to injury, the owner agreed to waive the gas charge (insulting, as we clearly had not been provided sufficient gas to begin with. So, an expensive lesson at $202. For a boat that ran for one hour! Suggestion, try Jack's Boat Rental at John's Pass.

I want to apologize for the issue you experienced with the boat. in fairness to us, you didn't inform us of any issues until you were 3 hours into your 4 hour rental. We would have gladly brought out a boat to you if we had known of the issues earlier. We did provide a full tank of gas which you did use which means you traveled at least 20 miles. We feel that with all the circumstances presented to us that the $50 gas credit was the appropriate reporaration.
We service hundreds of satisfied customers each year and are proud of our reputation for providing excellent value and quality boats in the Tampa Bay Area.

I had a great time on my trip to Florida because of this company! We had 9 people in our party and wanted to rent jet skis for the afternoon. Captain Eric took us out on a boat and 3 waverunners to the sand bar area in Johns Pass. Once he anchored the boat we were able to switch off riding the jet skis, swim, and relax on the boat. The boat had some great amenities like a cooler with ice for our drinks and food, and an awesome stereo. It was a great 4 hours on the water. We couldn't find anyone else who was willing to do this for us. Thanks Eric and Mad Beach Boat Rentals!

What's the usuall praice for renting boats? Do we need any license to drive boat?

Hi,
We charge 189 for a 4 hour 1/2 day rental and $289 for a full 8 hr day. You must be at least 27 yrs old and should have some boating experience. You do not need any special license. We also offer a captain service if you choose. The cost is $30 per hour.
