This place is a ripoff. Entrance fee is $12 per person (not per vehicle)! The grounds are not well taken care of and there are no signs for the trails. Unless you want to spend all day swimming in the springs, it is VERY overpriced. There are other beautiful springs in the area where entrance costs a lot less….

The forestry service seems to have completely turned this beautiful, magnificent, fragile piece of nature over to a company who could care less about maintaining the Springs. No one is ever there to monitor what goes on and most recently people were actually taking crabs out of the springs, putting them into buckets and leaving. No one is there to see them because no one is ever actually watching the Springs. Someone is always manning the concession stand where they sell over priced flotation devices and ice cream. Someone is always there to take your money at the gate. Otherwise, the things I've seen sick and me. Non-paying customers seem to make up the most amount of people there as they come from the other side of the ropes, which is called the marina side, and is not part of the recreation area. People are floating around on paddle boards, which is not allowed, smoking, which is not allowed, jumping off walls, which is not allowed, and there are simply no staff over seeing the Springs themselves. Most recently I saw someone lighting a fire in a pit that became so high that it was almost to the trees, which is a serious offense and could cause serious damage to the area and forest at large. No one seems to care. It's all about money with this company. They have priced out families. You can't use your park pass for a discount for everyone in your car, which all of the other Springs in the forest allow (they are run by a different vendor). When I complained about this, I was told that the company has a right to do this. OK..... There's no one to complain to and no one seems to listen. I would skip this place. Unless you want to listen to loud music, smell cigarette smoke as you swim and picnic, listen to loud obnoxious music you don't want to hear and become generally irritated that you've spent so much money and received so little.

Salt Springs was a favorite place for our young family many years ago. We have all grown up and so has Salt Springs. The springs itself is almost unchanged, cool and clear. But the entry fees for these NF Recreation areas are quite expensive, $12+ per person. And there just seemed to be an awful lot of rules, no doubt necessary because of crowds and thoughtless people. We visited on a quiet weekday and enjoyed a swim and the shaded picnic area. Weekends and holidays could be challenging. The campground has been "improved" from the old days, but we tried to get reservations on line and were not able to. When we drove through the campground it was almost empty. We were told it is sometimes better to call rather than use the recreation.gov website.

This is a beautiful spring with water temperature of about 72 year round. It has lots of shallow areas which is wonderful for small children. The restrooms were basic but clean and had changing rooms. The park store has very limited hours.

The huge issue is the cost. It was $12/person and federal park passes only get a 50% reduction for 1 person. This is WAY overpriced for a federal facility owned by the people. NOT worth the price when Silver or Rainbow Springs are so close.

The campground and springs was beautiful. Staff sucked, made the whole place have a bad vibe. Overcharged visitors who came to the campsite and watched up set and and went to the springs, cost then $26.00 dollars each, even though it was only $6.00 to get in. A shame because the area is so nice, will not be back

We had a great experience here. Campsites were spacious and very clean upon arrival. We noticed as campers left, maintenance was blowing off each site, cleaning fire pit, etc. We stayed for 5 nights and would have loved to stay longer. Salt Springs was a very beautiful area, had picnic tables and restroom facilities at the spring. We found all the employees very friendly and helpful.

There are no laundry facilities, but there is a very nice laundry across the highway from the campground. Also Salt Springs Pizza is across the highway, and had excellent pizza.

this place is a natural resource with many things to discover, however most of the staff are disrespectful people. I went on Thursday, April 6, at night I registered, the next day when I wake up I see that we don't have any phone signal, so I went out with my car to try to find communication with my family because they would come later the next day to
to visit me since I would be in my RV for 4 days in the place. When I finally found the signal 5 miles away, I returned to the spring. I have a tag because I did my verification the day before. When I was at the entrance of the spring there was a lot of car traffic, so I decided to go by the side of the cars because I already have my tag and it was registered. one of the staff member named DANIEL started yelling at us with a very BAD attitude and told us that we have to line up and wait for all the cars and it doesn't matter, we are registered in the spring and I have my RV there for 4 days that I paid that I had than Return to the queue. We got back in line when we got there the clerk DANIEL came to our car and said he saw our tag and I can get in. I ask him what is the protocol that they do not have any sign outside that says that each time you have to register and that he never asked me for my identification to know if we are the registered people. I explain to him that in another camp if you have a tag you don't have to wait in line. He yelled at me and said If you don't like following the rules, these are the rules. I explain to him that we follow the rules because I'm a teacher and I always follow the rules, except that they don't have a sign that says so and as usual, after the car has the tag everywhere we can enter. He started yelling at us with an altered voice and with horrible looks, I let him know that he doesn't know how to deal with clients, much less treat them. that it was not the way to talk to customers and that his bad attitude is not the way to follow rules in a job. Not only that, when the next day we went to the Spring and one of the employees, a senior man, begins to yell at people every minute for anything. in a very disrespectful way. The spring is beautiful [but the employees should check because their attitudes are very ugly and discriminating.

I pulled into what had, in past years been, a pristine and beautiful recreation area. I was handed a piece of paper but I already had the rules and the woman this. She was insistent that I take the piece of paper. I asked again why I had to take a paper listing rules that I already had. No good answer for this. I could tell this was probably a new employee so I finally let it go. Then I read down the list of rules I had just been forced to take. As I walked up to the Springs I noticed paddle boards, tons of people and no one from the area watching the Springs themselves. It is clearly posted that there are no lifeguards on duty. That is to be expected, however in other places management is very concerned about the way their Springs and being treated. When I went into the water I saw crushed blue crabs, I almost got hit in the head by a paddleboard with three people on it, there were floating devices and kids standing on rocks. It really looked like the fish had nothing to eat because the algae was being scraped off all the rocks. Frankly if you want to enjoy nature and teach your children to appreciate it, go somewhere else. This place has been taken over by a management company and is no longer run by the government. In one year, they have doubled the prices, for what I don't know, except capitalism of course. Which is fine if you improve things. However they are have not been improved. There are no hiking trails, they direct you about 10 miles down the street to access one. Overall exceptionally disappointing especially considering how fragile this beautiful area is. You can see this will soon be a dead spring. So unfortunate and so very sad. However, if you do want to teach your children how to kill a natural wonder this is the place to go. I took the list of rules home and put in my own recycle bin as there were none available there. If I could give this experience zero stars I would.

Salt Springs National Forest is a very nice place. The big problem here is that some politician must have received a big kick back to give this contract to American Land and Leisure concessionaire. The prices American Land and Leisure charge to access these PUBLIC grounds is exorbitant !!!!!! An example, a family of four to enter the springs would cost $48.00 . That is just the entry fee into the spring area.
