What a surprise for such a small island to have a great art hall. The displays are unique. There is also an auditorium for performing arts. One year there was an art show where the visitors got to vote on their favorite pieces. It is worth the visit.

Great to be able to visit Big Arts this morning. We enjoyed the Fine Art Show, Creative Adventures. The mixed media, oil, collage and sculpture were delightful and inspiring. Spent about an hour in the gallery. There is a gift shop too.

The day we visited the BIG Arts center was in fact its opening day, with a free BBQ and an eye-catching exhibit of paintings by a Naples artist, Mally Khorasantchi (you can Google her). There are performances and more. And it's next door to the Sanibel Historical Village, which is also worth visiting.

A little hard to find in the complex of buildings, but the offering at Schein Hall was teriffic and plenty of handicap parking.

Last night we went to a wonderful function at Big Arts out on Sanibel Island. Big Arts sponsored an open house style event with an art show with 2 separate exhibits, a live band and dancing, free admission and free food and beverages. They served 3 different craft beers from one of the areas local brewers. There was a wine station serving both red and white wines. There was a gourmet coffee station and they served small bites like fried coconut shrimp and ahi tuna canapés through out most of the evening. It was a perfect night, the weather was gorgeous, there were over 400 people that attended from all age groups and every one appeared to be having a wonderful time and we certainly did. This was not our first visit to Big Arts. We have attended some of their past theater productions and have always had a great time. A special thanks to Lauren Huff for curating the art exhibits and Michael Dest for coordinating all of the logistics for the event. You both did a great job. Keep up the good work Big Arts, you can always count on us to come back.

Nice park on the water. Plenty of parking early in the morning. Must pay $5 per hour to park. Water along the beach was very clear and extremely calm. Birds flocked around the pier to eat any fish the fisherman discarded.
