I had an amazing experience getting scuba certified here. Carl is highly skilled and knowledgeable instructor. I feel very fortunate that I was able to have had this experience guided by him. Everyone at the shop was very welcoming and helpful and encouraging. I could not have asked for a better introduction to scuba and I am so excited to see where this sport takes me!

Florida Underwater Sports is a five-star platinum SCUBAPRO shop. That was the endorsement that made my decision to take my PADI open water certification through them. It was the absolute best decision.
Although getting PADI certified had been on my bucket list for decades, I went in with a good dose of anxiety about staying safe. My instructor, Carl Brady, was exceptional at recognizing, mitigating, and coaching me whenever the anxiety would just start to rise. He was truly there for me...and each of us in the class...with patience and encouragement. Carl's superpowers are his situational awareness (he anticipated and responded to whatever was going on with each of us students, as well as everything around us that could potentially impact our safety or experience), his engaging personality and, most of all, his 1,000% commitment to our safety for today and for our future dives. I trusted him with my life.
Huge thank you to the exceptional team at Florida Underwater Sports...Greg, LeAnn, Heather, Lindsey, Carl. You are genuinely passionate about what you do. And, it is contagious.
I came through the four day class with pride and confidence in my ability to navigate the intricacies of SCUBA. 10/10 recommendation, for sure!

Bad on me, I waited until about 1.5 weeks before our vacation to try and book a dive. Unfortunately all the places I could find were booked. FL Underwater Sports was the only place that took my name for a waitlist. They called Sunday to say they were adding a boat on Tue and asked if we wanted to join it, which we did. The entire experience was extremely professional and well run from the boat Capt to the Dive Master and Instructor. We rented all our gear through them since we didn't bring any as we were not sure we would be diving. All gear was in very good condition - no issues with any of it on either of our dives. My son and I are very new to diving and the dive master took very good care of us. The sites were man-made reefs and we saw a ton of fish, crabs, starfish, and one very large grouper the size of a small car. Vis was about 20 ft. Great 2 tank dive for novices.

Great dive!! Charter Crew was very helpful and professional. conditions were good, we dove on some beautiful reefs that are home to lots of fish including some huge goliath grouper! Highly Recommend!!

These guys were great. Everyone I talked with was very helpful. Tim when I made the reservation, Heather who fitted us with rental gear, Kendra our dive master and the guys working the boat. Recently "reactivated" as I haven't done an open water dive in years. Helped me get back into the swing of it . . . the reactivation pool work was helpful but not the same as open water! THANKS EVERYONE!

I was looking to get my 12-year old twins trained and certified as PADI scuba divers so we could go diving together. We arrived at the dive shop without prior reservations and were told at first that there were no spots left during our stay. However, the store owner gave me a name of another diver to call and see if they could help and check back the next day if unsuccessful. The next day, we came back and he ended up rearranging schedules so that we could do the open water dives. I was even allowed to tag along with my kids to share the experience. To top it all off, the owner let us take a refresher course in a pool at no extra cost.
Carl Brady was our instructor. Besides being very professional, I found him to be very patient with my kids. On the first day of the open water dives, both my kids were congested, which prevented them from completing the first two dives. Carl rearranged the schedule for the second day to allow them to fulfil all the requirements. At the end, they got their PADI certifications and now we can embark on creating many underwater memories.
Many thanks to Carl and all the other staff who were so helpful. If anyone is looking to try out scuba diving in the Sarasota area, I highly recommend Florida Underwater Sports.

I just completed my open water course with Florida Underwater Sports (something that I have dreamt about doing for years) and now am a certified PADI scuba diver! Everyone in the dive shop are friendly and helpful and know what they are talking about when it comes to diving! My instructor, Carl Brady was absolutely wonderful! He is patient, friendly and a fun instructor! He explained and demonstrated all the skills clearly! I highly recommend this dive shop for all your diving needs whether you are already certified and need gear or wetsuits etc or whether you need to become certified or take your certification to a higher level or specialty!

I recently took the Open Water Diving Course and was impressed by the professionalism and level of comfort I was greeted with from everyone at Florida Underwater Sports. I was lucky enough to be put under the wing of their knowledgeable and very patient instructor, Carl Brady. With Carl's wisdom and great sense of humor, he guided me through the course with a drive to do my best and I am ecstatic to say, I am now PADI CERTIFIED to open the next chapter of my life with new adventures as a scuba diver! Thank you Florida Underwater Sports and Carl Brady for giving me the knowledge and skills towards the adventures of a lifetime!! Thank you for the experience!

My wife and I recently participated to a diving trip to Roatan, Honduras, led by Chris Sutherland from Florida Underwater Sports. Although a long-term diver, this was my first organized diving trip. I want to recognize Chris for his kindness, attention to every guest need and relentless focus on making sure that all participants were involved and satisfied. After the first day of diving, the housing of my GoPro broke, leaving me with the prospect of being unable to record the rest of my diving experience there. Chris kindly lent me his own GoPro for the rest of the week, and helped me download pictures onto a PC. I also routinely witnessed him help other participants with other pieces of equipment, including lending his sophisticated camera to a couple going on a shark dive.
The local diving staff (of the Mayan Princess resort) was also extremely helpful and provided excellent service. My wife does not dive, but likes to snorkel, and whenever she was interested in joining us on the boat, the boat captain would make sure that we went to a destination appropriate for snorkeling. The diving experience there was extremely convenient: the boat was literally a 30-second walk away from my room, and the diving staff prepared all our gear prior to each dive.
Overall a very nice experience (not only diving, but also resort food, convenience and ambiance)! Thank you Chris for making this trip a success for all!
