Let me start out by saying Sundog used to be one of my favorite little shops to stop in and buy Birthday and Christmas presents for my family. After my most recent experience I will never step foot in this book store again. A few weeks ago, my husband and I stopped by after he finished work to look around for potential gifts, like we do every so often. As we were about to leave, the cashier rudely steps right out in front of us at the door and rudely says excuse me while she intensely glared into the small paper bag I was carrying with a shirt we had bought from another seaside store. She tried to play it off but it was blatantly obvious what she was doing. She was checking to make sure we weren’t shop lifting. I have spent lots of money in this shop over the last couple of years, and would never dream of taking anything from anywhere, let alone a small bookstore! I would understand if we had been acting shady or if I had been opening and closing the bag a lot but we literally just did a quick browse around the store talking about who would like what as a potential gift, never once giving any attention to the bag around my arm. I would have been more understanding if it was store protocol to ask EVERY customer if they can check their bag because they are having problems with theft, but I can’t help but feel like this was a little bit of profiling too… you can do better Sundog Books. I think it should also be noted that your employees working that day were too engaged in the own conversation to greet or ask us if we needed any help finding anything either. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

This is a wonderful shop stuffed full of books, puzzles and other things. Fabulous locations and worth a visit.

Visiting from Texas and left my family while they shopped, I wandered off to the bookstore. I wasn’t disappointed at all. Loved the staff favorite shelves! They had a great selection and you could find something for everyone. Can’t wait to visit when we return to Seaside.

Great book selection for my teen …and me as well. Nice staff. Felt cozy during spring break. Good place to get a copy of what’s chosen on summer reading lists.

This is such a quaint local bookstore! I loved the atmosphere and my bibliophile daughter was in heaven. Unfortunately, they didn't have the book she was looking for (it was extremely busy and she asked about a very popular book) but she found something else to take home. Please consider supporting this bookstore!

We enjoy visiting this bookstore every visit to Seaside. They have very interesting books and fun stationary/cards. I also love their puzzles. A fun place to visit in Seaside.

My 10 year old son and his cousin asked to get a book to read on the beach but the only words spoken to us as we entered were “mask up, boys”.

Shocking to find a bookstore this nice in a resort area. Bibliophiles should not miss it. A pleasure even just to look in on.

A must stop when staying in Seaside. Great atmosphere, amazing selection, great people who work here. I always look forward to stopping into this bookstore. It’s really a special place.
