No, you just have to be comfortable enough to swim. You can wade out from the south end of the beach and get there. I'm 6ft tall and at low-ish tide, the water wasn't any deeper than my belly button. Pool/water shoes would be a good idea. Don't try to scale/walk across the sea wall. Just swim out.

I have no idea where your resort is, but Point of Rocks is at the very south end of Crescent Beach. There is some public parking in the public lot near Stickney Point bridge. Then you still have a walk from there to Point of Rocks.

I 100% agree with dwvonfischer. Best to snorkel at high tide (around the point if you like. No walking around the point required). Walk around the point at low tide. Bring water shoes - rocks can be sharp.

I think there is some rule about fishing from the shore and if you are Floridian (live here) then don't need license and if fish from boat then you do. I do know you are allowed to fish from point of rocks.

I just noticed TripAdvisor user Taylor A. gave a great answer to this question over a year ago. I googled it and Taylor A. is correct. Beach Access 12 is directly across from "Old Stickney Point Road." Turn left on to Midnight Pass Road from Stickney Point Road then almost immediately turn right into an alley on the right. Here is Taylor A.'s answer: There is great snorkeling. The best days are full of a bright sun with no surf..of course. If the wind is minimal causing no swells, this area is a true hidden gem with a snorkel, mask and fins. There's also great shelling too on the walk there! There is a small, one side parking lot that has very limited parking. If you park here, and walk out to the beach you will need to go left and follow the surfline to a large seawall. Typically you will find people fishing and playing on the wall. You have to hop and walk on the seawall (or tread water and follow wall) to get to point of rocks. To get to the parking, once you go over the stickney point bridge, you go left and about the second right there is a small alley where you can park adjacent to a long pink wall. There is no gate, or access fee. At the end of the one sided parking lot is a turn around area, try not to back out of the lot as it is not allowed.

If you are referring to the fireworks display. Get to the public beach early. There is very little parking down by Point of Rocks other then street parking and one small 10 car access across from Stickney Pt. and Midnight Pass Rd. I would recommend parking on the other side of the bridge and walking as it is an hour to get off the Key after the firework. They are wonderful though and worth the effort!
