They have a fairly large collection and some really interesting things but they need more space to display it all. Things were a little crammed. Still worth a stop if I’m the area.

Before entering the museum, do stop and contemplate the memorial dedicated to police who lost lives while on duty,,,names start in 1895. The museums spans the decades with interesting artifacts.

I took my 12 year old grandson there. I wanted to show him how small the helicopter was that I flew on as an observer for a month .(I retired from this police department). There is also a Police car, many types of guns, wanted posters, and a great Memorial Room.

I spent about a hour here today and was given a personalized tour by a retired police officer. In his retirement he works as a Reserve Police Officer with the Tampa Police Department. During this tour we both exchanged some stories and experiences as I have a Criminal Justice System background in Canada. Police equipment, uniforms, police cars, etc. are just a few examples in this modest museum. A memorial wall is on display of fallen officers within this department. Gift items are available to purchase as well. No entrance fee but donations are welcomed here. Lot's of parking available close to this museum as well. Despite being modest in nature they do a good job in explaining law enforcement work to the public.

I called to see if the museum was open before coming there. Parking was easy. It cost me about $7 for 3 hours, and it was about a block away. Dwayne gave me a personal tour of the museum and certain police officers he knew. I was fascinated by the pictures of officers killed in the line of duty, the police equipment, and collection of old mugshots and guns. The museum closed at 3:30 pm. I stayed in the museum till it closed. The admission was free and worth the one hour drive there from Wesley Chapel. I wish I could have spent more time there. Dwayne was very helpful in showing me interesting items in the museum that I would have missed or ignored. I bought 20 crosses with the blue line before leaving to give away as gifts to friends. I wish I could have spent more time there!

My wife was in Tampa for a conference so I was looking for something to do. With a law enforcement background this was a interesting place to visit. Do call ahead to make sure it's open since its run by volunteers. This is a free place to visit but I do suggest to give a donation to the museum since its not funded by the city nor the police department. The day I visited the lady there was very friendly.

Haben das museum von einem officer vom tampa pd empfohlen bekommen. Musuem ist zwar klein, aber dafür komplett gratis! Mit einem auto, helikopter, original uniformen, motorrad und und und. Ist eher ein memorial für verstorbene/im dienst getötete polizisten, als ein museum. Vor der tür ein sehr edles denkmal mit den eingravierten daten. Man kann auch diverse utensilien kaufen - günstiger als anderswo. U. a. auch viele sachen der blue thin line. Wenn man in der nähe ist, definitiv einen besuch abstatten! Achtung: öffnungszeiten beachten: mo - fr von 10 - 15 uhr ( 10am - 3 pm). Parkplätze gibts rund um den park, der direkt vor der tür ist ausreichend.

My family visited Tampa Police Museum. It has very interesting artifacts such as old police car that we see in the TV shows from 70's, the phone to communicate with the dispatchers before the modern technologies and small memorial section to honor those who lost their lives. The most interesting to me was the actual fugitive information cards and inmate information.

My girlfriend and I went to check out the Tampa police museum. It's pretty small but has some cool stuff. It's free so for any police buff it's a cool place to check out. The volunteer that runs it is a retired lieutenant there and has some cool stories and tons of info.

While exploring downtown Tampa we came across the outside memorial of fallen police officers on the sidewalk outside the Tampa Police Museum. Headquartered within it's own space at the downtown police headquarters, and just a small little museum, but it is done very well and it is a free attraction. We were told by the curator that this was one officer's collection, and he decided to try to save for history various items used by police in their line of duty. There is a police cruiser, a police Bell helicopter, bomb robots, and various other items such as old police call boxes used. There is a display of several police caps from around the world in a showcase. There are numerous copies of old wanted notices; including those of Bonnie and Clyde and Dillinger. These are very carefully mounted between vertical glass and the display is quite interesting and informative. Also is a large display of various guns, automatic weapons, Tommie guns, etc. recovered from crime scenes.
A somber memorial is a wall of fallen officers, detectives and policemen. Photos, write-ups and items of honor are on display. Also nearby is a very large case of police insignias, badges and patches. Also is a memorial to the very first police dog Queenie, that was a member of the Tampa team.
A gift shop is part of the museum; offering shirts, mugs, etc. labeled with various insignias. The day we visited they were clearing out numerous items and had them marked down in price.
With the numerous recent attacks and deaths of various police officers, it is nice that one location has chosen to present to the public the job of our police. Visit it; I think you will enjoy it. Unusual museum.
