Our favorite fresh grocery with many local items. Extremely fresh fruit and vegetables. The butcher and bakery have beautiful products. The ice cream shop serves Yoder's Icecream and it is fantastic. It is always packed.

This review is prompted after buying seafood at the Venice location multiple times. It wasn’t until standing in line at the the seafood counter this morning and clearly hearing the exchanges between each successive customer in line and Nino that, regardless of what a customer asks for, instead of simply getting that request on the scale and wrapped and the customer on their way, Nino insists on somehow deflecting each customer’s attention, I.e.,“You sure you want THAT and not THIS?” or, “We have this over here?” - essentially making the customer question themselves. This would make sense if the suggestions the employee makes are somehow helpful to the customer (save time or money, fresher product, etc,) but that never seems to be the case. It almost appears as if the employee is bored with their job of preparing order after order after order all day long and this is some coping mechanism they have developed (consciously or subconsciously) to spice up an otherwise repetitive shift but clearly, this established patter / habit isn’t funny at all when the customers were elderly. Or in a hurry. Or a long line of other customers are waiting and watching this transpire, over and over.

Fabulous market and deli. Their turkey breast and ham are the best I’ve ever had, many varieties including Boarshead. Huge deli area and they let you sample the luncheon meat, you are looking to buy. They have delicious fresh ground chuck and other cuts of meat. Seafood section looks wonderful, though I haven’t tried it. Bakery area is great and they sell a wonderful Key Lime pie. Their fruits and vegetables are reasonably priced and always fresh.
Friendly staff who are very accommodating. Always jam packed with locals and tourists. A must!

Amish family market at its finest. A 40 minute drive for me but I go once a week. They now have multiple sites in Sarasota County. The Venice store is full of friendly people. As far as quality I thought Publix was pretty decent as far as great meats, etc. But then I found Detwilers. They source locally and from small farms throughout US. Whether it’s meats, deli, seafood or veggies or bakery, all of it is top qaulity. Trust me you will like it.

The produce is great, with variety and quality. The seafood is a favorite and absolutely the best lobster bisque. A large selection of freshly baked bread, pies, rolls, and cookies. The caramel nut rolls are a favorite. The selection of individually wrapped chocolates are wonderful!

The Venice Detwilers is a partial market. The ones in Sarasota are full scale supermarkets. The produces section is very good. Meat deli and seafood are limited. Best time to go is after it opens at 8am, otherwise very crowded. It has a selection of central Pennsylvania foods, look hard.

Very good produce and prices. Nice selection of local products. It was worth the stop. Very busy and tight aisles. I gave up pushing the cart and just stayed in one place while my family shopped, and even then, I had to keep moving to get out of other shoppers way. I wanted to see the fresh meat/deli in the back, but it was too crowded and couldn't get through.

Everyone tells me this is a great store, they were right!, Been meaning to go there for some time and finally made it. Not your average grocery store, which was refreshing. Excellent selection of seafood, meat (great steaks) and produce. I found that everything I wanted was fresh, very fresh items are close, some very close to their “use by/best by” dates. Just be sure to use the items soon that expire quickly. Not a humongous selection, but they focus on select popular items, somewhat like Trader Joe’s. I will definitely be back on a regular basis. I understand this location is due for an update/upgrade in the near future.

Produce in FL is generally poor compared to the northeast so nice to have this business that has fresher produce than even publix. Prices are higher but you get better quality here. As good as a farmers market. Very crowded and aisle s are tight. Can be clostraphobic. Worth the effort if you want better quality. They have better meat, deli, and cheeses as well as fresh baked bread and pastry. Don't forget to check out store next door for great beachy items. Can spend all day here.

On our way to stay on Captiva we stopped for provisions at this store. The selection was massive and quality top notch. The backed good were special.
