Our two grandsons, ages 12 and 17, put in their requests for our summer vacation. #1 on the list was “extreme” whitewater rafting. Being the “fun grandpa” (with a “fun grandma”wife), I booked the Section 4 trip with Southeastern and my wife and I, and the kids, were happy I did. Had a fun, exciting , and an “extreme”(ly) great time that satisfied the teens quest for excitement, while still feeling safe and well cared for. Our guide Matt was exceptional, guiding our raft through the class 4 and 5 rapids while being safety conscious and personable. Matt went above and beyond by personally helping me safely navigate some short rocky hikes off -river to nearby waterfalls which were difficult for me due to my neurological balance issues. A great guy and excellent guide. Well done, Southeastern!

Me and my friends had the best time rafting with this company. It’s my third year to come back and raft here, but my first to stay overnight. It is a must do and is well worth it. If you do decide to go I 100% recommend trying to raft with Garret (Gare Bear)! We told him we wanted to do all the fun things we could, and he did not disappoint. He took us down fun paths even if that meant more work for him, and he let us flip the raft as much as we wanted. Gare Bear deserves huge bonus for putting up with us, and I would recommend him to anyone who wants to go.

If you are here reading the reviews you are probably considering a rafting trip. I am here to tell you… BOOK IT!!! My family (including two teenagers) and did the level IV trip last Thursday and is was nothing short of amazing!! Nico was our guide and Hannah was also on our boat helping us out. I felt very safe and comfortable with them and they had lots of knowledge of the local wildlife, foliage and the river. They told us stories of how the areas got their names and let us in on the local lore. The trip was beautiful, exciting, relaxing at times and all around a fun time. They served a great lunch spread and made sure we all had enough to eat. If all that wasn’t enough we also had a photographer, Jeff, on the whole trip who took a ton of incredible photos. We had one of the best experiences of our lives and someone was there to document it all. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this experience! The whole group of people we were with will live in my heart forever! Do not hesitate to use this company! They are rad!

Christian out guide was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. We purchased the photos and absolutely loved them. Would highly recommend them for your rafting trip.

This was an amazing trip. Me and my wife had tons of fun and the guides were GREAT!!! I would HIGHLY Recommend Southeastern Expeditions. Section IV had great rapids.

We had so much fun! We did the Section IV yesterday with Larissa as our guide. She was friendly and encouraging and clearly talented! We loved the opportunity to stop and jump off (and through!) the rocks. They clearly cared about safety first. Their photographer caught some great pictures. We will be back with our kids!

My husband and I have been whitewater rafting with this company before, but it was over a decade ago on section IV. Now that our youngest is old enough (8), we decided to go again and give section III a try. We have so much fun. Maddie was our guide and she is AMAZING with children. Our daughter Emma was the youngest in the group that day and our son William is 10. Maddie was very encouraging and gave them a lot of feedback to help them feel like helpful members of the team. She explained in detail what they needed to do and what to expect ahead of us. She also brought water guns. On numerous occasions, we’d be passing another raft and the guide would pull out a water gun and squirt my kids with water or throw water at them with an oar. They seriously thought it was the best. The entire trip was a blast, lunch was delicious, there was ample time to swim and play and we are so glad we spent the time and money making this memory. My daughter still talks about Maddie frequently and consistently asks when we’re going to go rafting again. 10/10 recommend this group.

I highly recommend Southeastern Expeditions - we had a great time on their "Wilder" trip a couple of weeks ago with our guide Cam. They are professional, experienced, and you can't beat the beautiful scenery along the way! If you want an exhilarating way to spend the day, this is the way to go!

My friends and I were in the area on our annual girls trip. We wanted to check white water rafting off our bucket list. All the staff at this outfitter were friendly and professional. They love their job and everyones safety is their #1 concern. Our guide Matt made sure everyone in our raft was comfortable as 1st time rafters and knew all the dos/donts on the river. We had an amazing time and highly recommend this excursion.

We did the section IV with some of the absolute best guides! The comradery amongst staff was so great and they made us feel like part of that family!!! We were blessed to be paired with Grace! Y’all… she is awesome!! Highly recommend Southestern Expeditions!!!

I suspect the water is frigid in mid April. Do they offer wet suits and what kind of temperatures can I expect?

How intense is it for a 9 year old? he swims but obviously not like a teenager would be able to.

Oh Ya! May is one of the better months to raft the Chattooga River. The weather is nice and the River has good flow.

The tuckaseeger river in Dilsboro is the only possibility I'm aware of and they have a weight minimum to protect against hypothermia due to water temp. Good luck

I have never gone river rafting and would like to know what levels you have on this river. I am looking for something easy.

We recommend that you do Section 3 first to "get your feet wet"! you can walk around the big rapids if necessary.
