This is our usual dog 🐕 walking course and we hadn't been back for a while as it had been so hot.
They have been doing a lot of work here and really done a great job on the new children's playground area and what looks to be bike / skate park. Not really sure what it is that they are building but good to see improvements. This is always a fantastic place to walk around and look at the birdlife on Lake Monger 😀

A walk around the 3.5 km path around the lake is the most wonderful way to connect with nature in the middle of the best city on Earth. The variety of bird life is simply amazing, and changes with the seasons. We have sighted at least 40 different species of birds over the past four years. The number of various ducklings and chicks, cygnets in the spring throughout the breeding season is heartwarming. A wide dual-use foot path around the full circumference of the lake is complemented by a conservation footpath through bushland on the eastern edge of the lake (inside the dual path).
There are free parking areas at a variety of locations around the lake, with several large playgrounds, picnic areas and facilities, gym equipment, watering points and benches scattered around the dual use path.

Lake Monger is one of few large wetlands remaining following white settlement. It's known for its prolific birdlife, and it's also a fine place for hiking and biking. Lake Monger is associated with the Wagyl, a Dreamtime serpent credited with creating the Swan River basin.

We visited lake Monger with the dream to see a Southwestern snake-necked turtle (Chelodina colliei). We parked in one of the car parks along Lake Monger Drive on the Southern part of the lake. There, we saw many ducks in the grass and in the lake. The trail around the lake divides in two at the south-east corner of the lake, separating the cycle path from the naturalistic one. The nature trail runs closer to the lake shore and dogs are not allowed on it. The double path is present only on the eastern side of the lake and there are two piers immediately after the start and just before the end. Spending some time looking at the water where the shadow of the jetty allowed us to see deeply, we saw our first turtle. Even if the turtle remained under the pier for long time it was not easy to take a picture of this elusive reptile. Along the west side of the lake there is only one track and therefore the presence of cyclists makes bird watching more difficult. On this side of the lake the water depth is less and several species of water birds can be easily seen due to the scarce vegetation. The total loop is reported to be 3.5 km, a very easy and pleasant walking for everybody.

Lake Monger is part of an urban wetland; most other lakes and wetlands in the Perth area were drained for agriculture and urban development. Lake Monger is 5 km (3 miles) from the Perth CBD, along the Mitchell Freeway. Lake Monger is connected to the Dreamtime myth of the Wagyl, a serpent that the Noongar people associate with the Swan River area. The Noongar are Aboriginal people who occupied the entire South-west of Western Australia before white settlement. Lake Monger is 70 ha (170 acres) in area; it abuts the suburbs of Wembley, Leaderville and Glendalough. Lake Monger is popular with tourists; bird-watchers will find many native birds. It's also well-known for walking and cycling. The lake has BBQs; parking is usually adequate. The area is known as the Lake Monger Reserve.

Lovely walk and ambiance, midgies and high speed cyclists can be pests, watch out for wildlife it is spring after all

We often walk around this lake as we live nearby.
Its an easy but interesting walk with lots of Wild life to see on the way. I would say its about 4-5 klms around with cool breeze in summer.

ブラックスワンがいると聞いてモンガー湖に行き、湖を一周しました。水鳥の種類も多く、たくさん見かけたのですが、目当てのブラックスワンは一羽しかお目にかかりませんでした。ブラックスワンはどこに行ってしまったのでしょう？

We largely go to Lake Monger to walk our dog. Its a fantastic walking path for pedestrian and cycle use. There is also an inner walking path in some places where bikes and dogs aren't allowed.
Unfortunately the water level was well below what I would normally see due to a hot Perth summer but still a beautiful area for wildlife.
Always a great place for a stroll.

There are more than one parking places. As far as I can recall there were few restrictions.

Catch the Joondalup line train from Perth and alight at Leederville station. Walk about ten minutes east along Grantham Street and you will be there. Enjoy and take a drink with you.

Hi What legal steps can i take to either buy or obtain some swans for a very large lake in Canning Vale we have a good range of wildlife and it would be beautiful to have some swans to compliment the lake . The local residents are VERY protective of the wildlife , any help would be greatly apreciated thank

I suspect re-creating a natural habitat would attract Swans.
Other than that check out the WA government Parks and Wildlife website which may provide your answer.
