Dragon Cay Resort is the spot where you will find the best access to the trail. Villa and cottage guests are treated to front door access to the amazing trail that provides the amazing view of the dragon as seen in this picture. More than just a walk along the bluffs, its an adventure from the beach and the dragon to the praying hands Circle of Hope as named by many. This trail is a spectacular spot and the most popular to view sunrise and sunsets. Keep following the stone and concrete path to the stairwell leading below ground into the natural cave and entrance to Secret Beach.

Aside from the Conch Bar Cave (Guided Tour) and the accessible anytime Indian Cave just east of the Dragon Cay Resort entrance the best experiences on the island are right at the resort. These trails, while on the property of the resort and private homeowners are open to the public. Just enter the Dragon Cay Resort property where you will find limited parking in front of the Mudjin Harbour Bar and Grill or along the roadway at the pathways. Be mindful of guest parking by the villas and cottages and their designated parking areas.

These trails are great for walking but not for biking since the stone paved paths are slightly elevated and the rough rocky and plant covered areas are a bit unforgiving. The stone and concrete pathways lead to natural paths leading back towards the west end of the island and are great for biking.

Great hike. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Wear good shoes with rubber soles and consider long pants. There are sharp limestone rocks covered in vegetation and at one point I did a header into some bushes. I don’t regret hiking here at ALL; it was gorgeous. If the trail were a bit less overgrown it would be a 5. The views as well worth it. It can be a long out and back or a shorter walk if you meet the road 0.8 miles in. There are cliff views and many areas where you can scramble down to deserted beaches.

We did the Crossing Place trail in two parts, on two different days, and I was thankful we took this approach. It gave us time to have a poke around, without getting over tired.
First day we parked at the Mudjin Harbour Grill and walked west along the coast to Norbellis Cove where we had a swim. Then we took the inland track, past the fish ponds, back to the main road, and walked a short way along the road back to Dragon Cay resort. We saw nesting osprey, beautiful orchids, loads of egrets, warblers, crabs, many butterflies and beautiful beaches.
The second day we parked at Sea View Cafe in Conch Bar settlement. right behind the parking area is a wide sandy track along the coast. we followed this west and it became a rougher trail through dense vegetation. We wore long trousers both days and were glad we had. Again, great bird watching, loads of butterflies and lizards and beaches all along the way for when you want a break and a swim. We had lunch at Sea View cafe afterward, and it was excellent. The cafe is well signed from the main road. I'll post some photos of the trail conditions in June 2022.

First off, we don’t regret doing this hike. Total distance was almost 5 miles and it took about 2 hours. The views are beautiful!! Take sunscreen and water, wear good shoes, and wear long pants if you have some. If you don’t enjoy hiking/walking I wouldn’t recommend doing the whole trail. The terrain is pretty uneven and to say the trail is poorly marked would be an understatement… I’m not sure how much longer you’ll be able to tell there’s a trail there! See the photos that other reviews have listed here to familiarize yourself with the landmarks to look out for.

My husband and I began at the Resort with blue buildings (which also includes Mudjin bar&grille). Once you park and walk up to the restaurant take the small trail to the left that immediately goes upward to overlook the ocean. Side note: the beach and a small “cave” are located on a different trail to the right but that’s not really part of the hike. After going up and following the left trail there are wooden sticks every so often to attempt to point you in the right direction. It took us along the coast, over rocks, through sandy grass, and lastly through the “jungle.” We got to see lots of geckos, some huge spiders, and flamingos! Our last 1.5 miles was on the road because we decided not to trudge through the terrain again.

The restaurant at the entrance to the trail isn’t anything special but there really aren’t many others to choose from, and our service was really good. They’re only open 11a-3p so plan accordingly!

I hope all of this info helps someone else, as we were a little confused ourselves but had a ton of fun!!

Nice trail. It was difficult to locate the markers in certain parts. Basically follow the ocean and you will be fine. Wear sneakers and bring water. Beautiful views. We access the trail on the curve before Mudjin Harbor. It was difficult to spot the entrance. I actually had to get out of the car to locate the opening. Also watch for big but beautiful spiders 🕷 at the opening.

If you like hiking, this is a stunning coastal walk!! We did the whole length, and it was great. :)

WEAR STURDY SHOES, A HAT, LIGHT PANTS, BUG SPRAY, SUNSCREEN AND BRING PLENTY OF WATER!

The trail isn’t super well-marked/maintained after the first brief section, and having good shoes is *essential.* (No flip flops!) You’re very exposed for the whole hike, so a hat and sunscreen are essential, too. I happened to wear light pants and was really happy I did for those sections of the trail that were super overgrown. But we passed others in shorts, so it is certainly doable (probably just a little slower, because you’re gonna be more cautious about avoiding pokey scrub branches).

The only sad thing was a really unfortunate amount of trash on some stretches of the beach - especially in some of the cove areas. Unfortunately, there’s so much litter in the oceans now, and it gets trapped in certain areas - several of them being along this walk. :’( We filled a daypack with trash to carry out, but it didn’t even make a small dent in the problem. The fishnets caught all along the limestone at the breakers is also devastating to see. This hike was eye opening for us in many ways - and the views were indeed spectacular.

I didn’t realize how long this trial was until now that I am writing this review! We took the trail from Mudjin bar and grill past the praying hands and to the secret stairway to the secret beach and back to Mudjin bar and grill. I had no idea we could have kept going! Next time! The short distance we did take this trail was amazing! The stairway to the secret beach was amazing!

During a 5 night stay at Dragon Cay I hiked Crossing Place Trail approximately 2 miles north from the Dragon Cay Resort area. It was a fabulous hike along some spectacular cliffs and beaches. There are some places where one must traverse some iron shore like rock/coral, so fairly sturdy footwear is a must in those places - flip-flops won't cut it in the rough spots .
The coast was desolate and beautiful, and like me, you'll probably have it to yourself. The beaches you pass are worth a diversion or two to take a cooling off dip, even a skinny dip if one would want, but beware the waves are a bit strong along this coast. Be prepared to see more flotsam and jetsam than one could ever imagine. While seeing so much plastic and assorted stuff, for lack of a better word, on the beach is rather sad, there will be some fascinating finds as well. Washed up fishing nets and assorted floats/buoys are abundantly present along the shore for instance.
And now the secret.
My wife and I first attempted to start the trail from Mudjin Bar& Grill. A mistake, as she only had flip-flops and the rough going was just too much for her footwear...as I mentioned earlier. An aborted journey. After speaking to one of the Dragon Cay owners, who just so happened to be visiting the resort while he were there, he mentioned a much easier access from the main road just before (approx. 200 yards perhaps) the entrance to the Resort. This access is very much like a rough, somewhat overgrown driveway, but it is there. When driving south toward Mudjin/Dragon Cay this access is easily missed, but when walking or driving north in the direction of North Caicos from Dragon Cay, it is more noticeable off to the right in a slight curve in the road. The owner guy, had actually driven his rented Jeep Wrangler up this driveway like access quite some distance he reported. So, my second attempt at hiking the trail the next day was a much easier endeavor. Please see the photos, as I have added one with a screenshot of where the better access is in relation to Dragon Cay. Enjoy!

We hiked the scenic coastal area of Crossing Place Trail starting from Dragon Cay Resort (formerly Blue Horizon). Beach after beach, blowholes and towering limestone cliffs. There's a short paved path from the resort then it gets rough just after the stairs down to the secret cave. Keep in mind the jagged rocks, uneven/loose stones, branches and vines along the way and of course the weather conditions. Best time to go is in the morning, wear shoes/sandals with good soles and bring plenty of water. We didn't realize how far we had walked until we started getting tired and going back is a bit harder than going. It was a great experience and felt priviledged to see such beautiful natural scenery.

If you’re looking for a walk/hike that’s not directly on the beach, this is it. We started from Mudgin Bar & Grill. Spectacular views although the terrain was challenging at times as you had to walk on the uneven, pitted limestone.
