They should have sand where they use to have it. All those stones are dangerous. Bring bk sand ,kids love the sand and building sandcastles.

The beach was stony but very clean and very accessible, and was right opposite the premier inn where we stayed.

What a beautiful beach very clean and very pretty love all the beach huts along there.
Had a fantastic day there blue sky and sunshine! No need to go abroad with all the hassle that involves.

Thorpe Bay Beach has so much to offer. A little quieter than the main strip by Adventure island. Shingle, sand & small stones. Perfect place to relax & watch the world go by.

It was disgusting , the tide went out and all we got was quick sand , my son got stunk no one on the beach to help ,,, no warning signs on the beach about the tide going out , it was the worst experience of my life seeing my 13 year old getting stuck and I could not help him , but lucky he was quick thinking he dung his way out ,,,. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 hate this beach no one there to help if in danger and when the tide goes out it’s a danger , with quick sand 😡😡😡😡😡

Let's be blunt - there's very little to see or of interest down on Thorpe Bay. But you do get a view of Southend Pier from a distance that looks stunning in the morning and evenings, big, clean empty beaches (all the day-trippers and tourists are up by the pier), and a beautiful coastal walk. The air is fresh, the houses look pretty, there are little boats dotted about and a view of the wide open Thames Estuary. Just an hour from London too.

the area was very tired looking, we walked past unkept buildings and a group of locals drinking, same place every day we were there (4 days). Certainly needs a makeover. lots of businesses' were closed.

We had perfect weather, loads of walks, town centre full of shops, friendly people, loads of bars with outdoor space. Premier inn fantastically located with free parking.

Could be a little cleaner paper rubbish etc but that’s humans for you.lovely to swim in the days we were there it was very warm.

on a hot day in southend with all the "unsafe" hustle and bustle - it is so much nicer to travel on a bit further to thorpe bay ---, past the yacht club , on the right hand side is a reasonably priced "grass" car park with public toilets, a small general shop and close access to the beach -- take a pic-nic and have a cheap day out.

I really don't know about parking as I don't e rive and live near the area, so I walk. As for Mulbeŕy harbour, it's an old WWII portable harbour that got abandoned in the estuary when being dragged back from the French coast (not totally sure about the French part). It's a solid structure and can be walked to when the tide is low but you must be careful to return before the tide comes in or you may end up stranded on the harbour. It's about a 2 mile distance from the beach and the feeling is overwhelming. s you end up standing on a piece of history in the middle of the estuary.

The beach is a short walk from the train station. When you leave the station turn right into the high street. Continue walking until you see a sign for east beach, follow this sign and you will soon see the beach. Have a good trip

Only during winter months I believe but will need to check with signs etc on the beach
( you can take a dog on beach further up towards chalkwell beach )
