We had an hour to kill in Elmhurst and walked through their public library. This is a glimpse of what libraries should be. We are blessed with an excellent library in Fort Wayne but with a couple of exceptions Elmhurst has us beat.

Elmhurst has the best library, and we are so lucky that we get to enjoy it. We love the great service, incredible facility, and all the books. And if you need to get away for a bit from home, they have great quiet areas where you can do some work. Highly recommend.

If you need books, magazines, and digital media, almost any library will do. However, this library has so much more. You can borrow movies, music, cookware, resources for many hobbies, computers, printers, and tons more. You can also barrow a conference room, study room, and large group area. The programming is also top shelf. From kid programs to teen and adult programs, you can find tons of interest groups all year long. We took advantage of their adoptive family group when our daughters were little. My youngest volunteered each summer for about four years and my eldest works part-time now. My wife is a teacher in a nearby town and uses the great resources with her students. We love our library.

Books, CD's, DVD Movies and plenty of conference rooms make this one of the most beautiful libraries in the Western suburbs.

Great selections, organization, lay out, staff and resources. As the title hints at, when we were looking at homes in Elmhurst we were told how wonderful the library was... we put that so far on the back burner of our considerations (and initial 'town activities' with our kids) that it's hard to admit it.
During the past decade, the public library has been a wonderful resource for our family. For the kids, my wife as a mom, a philanthropy board member, an instructor/leader... for me as a dad, a citizen and as a professional. Truly a gem that we are blessed to have near our home and a fantastic resource for the community.

My kids love coming to the library. This place offers activities and books for kids and adults. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. Great place for work meetings as well.

This is one of the best libraries with a large collection of all different types of books. When you first enter after being one-on-one greeted there are areas with various subjects and books to chose. Childrens section is straight ahead and to your right is a coffee/sweets bar. Second floor has rooms for private meetings, classes or rentals for any reason. The computers are for free use and a printer if you do not have one at home. The assistants can help you with everything from finding books, to using Kindles.
All in all it is a pleasant and helpful inviorment

Elmhurst Public Library has great spaces & great programs. It doesn't matter if you a kid in the children's library on the first floor or a small business owner on the second floor in a meeting room there is something for everyone.
