Wizyta tu była dużą niewiadomą . Nie mieliśmy za bardzo pojęcia jak to będzie wyglądać. A tu wszystko jest proste .O wczesnym zmierzchu [po 18.00 ] podjeżdża się na parking .Przy wejściu na teren przed jaskinią kupujemy bilet [ obcokrajowcy za 1000 kiatów ].Ustawiamy się przed jaskinią a 'naganiacze nietoperzy" walą w w bębenki aby przyspieszyć wylot nietoperzy na swe łowy . Stoimy nad brzegiem rzeki w ciszy [ o.k.bębenki ] i nagle potężniejący szmer. Z jaskini wylatują tysiące nietoperzy. Dżwięk nieprawdopodobny i trochę może trąci grozą . Wielu ludzi boi się przecież nietoperzy . Przez niecałe pół godziny wylatuje ich od 100000 do 300000 , zależnie od pory roku . 10 różnych gatunków ,ale tego z dołu nie zauważymy. Natomiast te niekończące się "chmury" nietoperzy pozostają w pamięci na długo . Będąc w okolicy koniecznie trzeba taki spektakl obejrzeć i przeżyć.

S'il vous plait, lisez ceci car ce n'est pas naturel du tout, et représente une torture pour les chauve-souris !
En effet cette sortie a été une vraie horreur à voir. Non pas parce que nous n'avons pas vu de chauve-souris ou quoi que ce soit. On les voit bien, ça sans soucis.
Par contre ce que personne ne dit, c'est qu'elles ne sortent pas naturellement chasser. En effet : des locaux frappent dans des casseroles pendant une vingtaine de minutes à intervalle régulier pour les faire sortir de leur grotte ... Nous avons été choqués par cette démarche. Vous voudriez qu'on vous fasse pareil ? Non. Ne soutenez pas cette "attraction".
C'est un spectacle de panique et de douleur que vous verrez : les pauvres bêtes sont désorientées par le bruit des casseroles et font des sursauts au moment du bruit, ce qui est très dérangeant à voir. Ce sont des animaux très sensibles ...
Nous sommes très intéressés par la nature et sa beauté, mais nous sommes absolument contre cette manie que l'Homme a de faire du mal à d'autres êtres vivants pour son amusement et pour satisfaire sa curiosité.
Bien sûr, les locaux en tirent une rémunération dont ils ont besoin pour vivre, mais par pitié il faut les soutenir autrement via l'artisanat ou par les nombreuses autres sorties possibles sans faire autant de mal ! Je regrette amèrement de ne pas avoir été prévenu de la réalité de cette sortie, alors j'espère pouvoir en dissuader certains !

A visiter au coucher de soleil, de milliers (millions ?) de chauves-souris sortent de cette grotte. Impressionnant, car le spectacle continue sur plus d'une demie-heure.

It is an incredible sight to behold seeing so many bats come out at once. My wife and I saw this for the first time 3 years ago and were stunned at the magnificence.
We came back to see it again only to be disappointed. As others have said people are now positioned there banging loudly on plastic jugs. This disturbs the bats normal flight routine. I asked why they did this and they explained that the birds and bats are crashing into the bridge so they are trying to scare them to help prevent them from crashing into the bridge. However it seems that they are only disturbing the bats and the birds.
We came back to see it again only to be disappointed. As others have said people are now positioned there banging loudly on plastic jugs. This disturbs the bats normal flight routine. Things to take in consideration:
- the little stupa on the top is surrounded by a tiny platform where you are supposed to have the best view of the bat's at dusk. Well the platform is super tiny and get very quickly crowded so you better be there in advance.
- the bars are pretty far and I believe you actually get a better view from the bottom of the hill
- you will NEVER get the sunset from the bat cave as the sun sets behind the huge cliff where the bats are coming out. In other word you will have to chose between the sunset or the bat's at dusk.
I can easily admit that perhaps we were unlucky or perhaps we have been spoiled with other awesome experience but I found this pretty disappointing...
I dare not imagine how packed it gets during high season :/
Photo tips :
- get there at lease an hour in advance or more
- take a telephoto lense with you (at least 200mm)
- install your tripod straight so you can secure a good spot

One of the hi-lights of our trip to Myanmar, expected a couple of dozen bats to exit a cave at dusk for about 5 minutes. Instead got to witness 1000's of small bats swarming out of a small hole in the side of a cliff overlooking the beautiful Thanlyin River. It really was a spectacular sight to see and lasted about 20 to 30 minutes. Highly recommend tourists to see this.

Not recommended...Bats are forced to leave the cave before time by loud drumming done infont of a cave. As they leave the cave too early they become an easy prey for the birds outside. Better don't sponsor such cruelty...

Arrived just before dusk and found a good possie to see the unxepected. Thought a few bats would fly out and it may last about 5 minutes or so. But this is really a sight to see, thousands of bats flying out at dusk and moving up and down to the rhythm of the drums and went on for about 20 to 30 minutes. I highly recommend this to others not to miss.

Wir sind zur Bat Cave gefahren um uns den Ausflug der Fledermauskolonie anzuschauen. Die Fledermäuse waren wirklich beeindruckend, es müssen Millionen gewesen ein. Leider gibt es ein paar Einheimische die während des Spektakels total sinnlos auf Plastikeimern rumschlagen und anderweitig Lärm machen. Ob das irgendein Ritual ist, Aberglaube oder ob sie wirklich glauben das ihr Krach einen Einfluss auf die Fledermäuse hat weiss ich nicht. Auf jeden Fall zerstört es das wirklich tolle Naturschauspiel. Schade.

Prenez votre temps, les chauves souris se décident à s'envoler par milliers, au couché du soleil... nonobstant cette odeur particulière un peu acre et acide, à l'orée de la grotte, le spectacle naturel est saisissant. Observer durant plus de 15 minutes, la colonie entière, s'envoler pour la nuit, pour manger et boire, à quelque chose d'improbable et de magique à la fois... A faire.

Hi all:
Would you mind sharing from where is the best spot to see the bats flying out of the cave? I m not clear, some people said to be by the bridge, some said from bottom , some said at the cave?
Did u get the chance to see them or it was already too dark by the time the bats left the cave?

At the cave sitting on the steps of the stupa. Get there at 5.30 pm and you have to pay a small entrance fee. Lasts over 30 mins.
