I wouldn’t go out of your way to visit this attraction (if you could even call it that) it’s basically as seen in the photo with nothing else worth stopping for.

It figures on the list of Big Things in Australia. But technically it is not a big elephant. It's pretty much normal size, for an elephant. Just the head is a bit disproportionate and the features somewhat distorted, red and ugly as the devil, a bit of a Rosemary's Calf for elephants. Nevertheless it carries itself as an icon, bright and shiny, unmissable. Too bad the stores around the parking lot, with all respect, are not any interesting, so this is not even tourist bait. Too bad indeed. It would be great to see the Big Red Elephant pins, teaspoons, badges, stickers, fridge magnets, t-shirts, biscuits, dried fruits...
