We stayed in the full hookup section. For a state park, the sites are awfully close together. Typically state parks have more space and privacy between sites, but I can't complain based on getting a site with full hookups for such a great price. Check in was strange as there was nobody working there. We pulled up to a bulletin board that listed all the check-ins for the day and the site we had. It was very cold while we were there so we didn't spend much time outside, but we did venture down to the lake once and it looked like it would be really nice in the summer. We enjoyed visiting the Buddy Holly crash site and museum, that was very interesting! We travel fulltime and work remotely so internet is important to us; if that is important to you too, here are the details: T-Mobile 64.7 dl/22.6 ul, Verizon 59.6 dl/21.5 ul, AT&T 22.9 dl/5.96 ul.

Good showers, quiet, clean. Pretty lake. Mostly huge rigs hauling autos, have to go back to town to buy firewood. Should sell wood on site.

There are only a few full hookup sites and we reserved one. Almost no one here middle of April. Bathrooms were closed. Pretty lake and cute town. Lots to do in the area! The Grotto in West Bend is AMAZING!
We also enjoyed Mason City. Frank Lloyd Wright left his mark there as did Meredith Willson of The Music Man.

We spent 4 nights here camping in a 19 ft. Trailer. Most sights are Electric only. Pull through sites are mostly level with picnic tables & fire rings. Most sights have good spaces between you & the next camper. The place was mostly empty when we were there but can get very busy during summer weekends. Private shower rooms but not very much hot water.

The campground is located near the South shore of Clear Lake. Walking distance to the beach and great for a nice walk or bike ride. No nearby restaurants for walking. You could easily bile to a couple of restaurants. Covid kept us out of the shower house. If you have longer RV or a class C, I do not recommend camp sights 1 -13 .
Lean towards the higher numbers close to the shower. Some electric pedestals are located a long distance from your area. Better pack a extra cord. Water is not conveniently located in the par. The park could use attention to the gravel in the sights that had gravel. I could bump up my rating with a little attention to maintenance.

This may be each year on the third Saturday of February, I’m not sure. We heard about it last year as it was on the today show and wanted to go and fly a kite on the ice there were literally hundreds of colorful kites being flown see the pictures attached. We took beanbag style water toys that made nice chairs that were insulated to sit on the ice with. It was a nice day because the temperature had come up from the previous day by about 25°. We parked at the high school and took the shuttle to the kite flying area (on frozen Clear Lake). The downtown area was doing it’s best to handle the crowds but the lines were long wherever we went for food you might want to consider taking food with you if you went to this event next year! We ended up spending about three hours flying the kite and watching the other kites and had a great time!

Very nice restrooms and showers. Most sites are very nice with many being pull throughs. You are able to reserve many sites. Would be nice if they sold firewood like some other parks but it is available locally.

My boyfriend and I flew in to Chicago, rented an RV and did a north-Midwest roadtrip. Out of the 6 parks we stayed out, this one was probably the most "meh". The campground was a bit hilly and the sites weren't leveled out, so we were at a slight angle which is awkward in an RV. I'm from the Pacific Northwest and assumed everything in the midwest was completely flat, so I didn't think we would need to get planks or anything along those lines. It wasn't that bad at our site but some were definitely much more sloped, so be careful when selecting a site. It was extremely windy when we stayed, so we didn't go swimming, but we did enjoy sitting out by the lake. Apart from the small beachfront, there's not much to do. We went for a walk through the neighborhoods surrounding the park, but if you're looking for hiking trails, this is not the park for you. I didn't pay close enough attention when making the reservations. We still relaxed which was the main goal of our trip.

Visited the Lake in July 2019, My husband was stationed there on a Windmill project, what a charming place and wonderful people to visit, there is so such to do, that you can not get bored.

This is the second campground in two nights that we stayed at in Iowa state parks. Great parks but the signage is terrible ! You don’t know how to proceed through the park and the site markers are sometimes on the wrong side of the sites!Confusing as &$&@&$!

Walleye - Good: Boat anglers troll with live bait around Hy Vee reef, Dodges point, and Billy's reef. Shore anglers target docks and jetties using minnows and leeches.
Yellow Bass - Fair: Target the artificial reefs or fish around the island using small jigs and minnows.
Bluegill - Good: Use live bait and fish around docks, artificial reefs, and vegetation.
Channel Catfish - Good: Fish around rocky substrate using live bait.

Sorry it has taken some time to get back to you.
The Clear Lake State Park has plenty of room for 100 people, but I would advise calling the park or Googleing the Cleear Lake Sate Park for details.
There is camping at the park, but there are several hotels to stay at if you Google Clear Lake, Ia hotels.
PM Park is a fun place to eat . On Sunday mornings they have a buffet and the dining hall is large.

Yes, you can but they aren't nearly as impressive or enjoyable as they are when you view them from the downtown seawall. Plus, you may not be able to see the displays that are set off lower in the sky.
