Visited as a couple without the kids!
Caves are really big with a self guided tour (follow the path). Truly amazing.
Dinosaurs were also fabulous , best models I’ve ever seen and we’ve seen a lot due to having 3 kids!
Cafe was an utter waste of time. Take your own food.
Thought we’d grab something to eat before our 12 o clock tour but the cupboards were bare! We mad do with a breakfast of packet of crisps! The website promised so much “hearty food, homemade cakes” BUT We were informed sandwiches will be available later, after our first tour we popped back in and the food was chicken nuggets, adults or children's size, other fried foods are available! Jacket potatoes for just shy of £10. Awful don’t waste your time going in unless you need the toilets as there’s only one set and they’re in the cafe, right in the cafe. Nice!

Wow! Just wow!

Wow! The caves are stunning. The whole site keeps your interest from the second you walk in. The dinosaurs are amazing. There's not a thing they haven't thought about when planning the layout. Honestly, amazing value for money.

Great inter-generational day out

I visited with a 9 year old, an 11 year old and an 87 year old! We'd had excellent advice over the phone prior to our visit for my elderly father and he was able to enjoy the day out with his daughter and grandchildren. The kids loved the experience and happily explored independently and taking care of their grandfather. We were really impressed with the pathways, which had been of concern for us, but they were excellent and really well maintained and 'grippy'! We were unfortunate with the weather, so one small improvement could be to make the outdoor handrails easier to grip when wet. Helpful and friendly staff, clean facilities too. We weren't so interested in the dinosaurs, but found the information videos along the path in the dinosaur section really well made and informative. It would be nice to see/hear a little more Welsh though - hardly any signage in Welsh and only a few small bits of commentary in Welsh from our experience. We all had a great day out and would certainly recommend it.

well worth every penny , 6 attractions in one .
We had a bonus as well we camped on there camp site .Brilliant as well very friendly and super clean .

Excellent value for money. The caves were magnificent AND dog friendly. Never seen so many models of dinosaurs and the setting for them was perfect. The Shire Horse centre with all the farm animals was the ideal end to our day…..oh, apart from only having to walk another 100yds to our motorhome which was parked in their fantastic campsite. All fully serviced pitches, clean toilets and the shower rooms were the best we’ve ever seen. We parked on pitch 15 so had the river directly behind us, like having our own water feature in the garden. Would highly recommend this place and we will definitely be making a return visit.

Stunning caves that have been beautifully lit and set up for visitors. Also, the dinosaur park is great fun with countless large exhibits. Kids and adults alike will love them.

Super day out cut short by early closing -

This place makes for an excellent day out with kids, and has interest for all ages. The caves are amazing, the dinosaurs so numerous I am sure we must have missed some, and the farm / play area etc was a change of pace which kept the kids' interest going. I must admit we were in two minds about going due to the price, but what's there is worth it for a full day's entertainment. My complaint is that everything shuts so early. The road train stops around 3pm and everything else shuts at 4pm. Way too early if you're charging a hefty price for a full day ticket. They even turn the lights off in the toilets while they are still open so it's pitch dark in there. We were left with the feeling of everything being closed around us and the staff wanting to clock off, and this was a disappointing end to an otherwise very good day.

Amazing caves

Really enjoyed the national show caves. They are incredible and there was much more of them then we expected. There are also lots of dinosaurs which is great for little ones. Not suitable for people unable to cope with steep climbs or steps. Would highly recommend. Cafe nice too for food at the start or end of the visit. There is also a small farm too.

Owing to our mountainous location and the natural layout of our three caves, access can be limited. A lovely gem. A few hours going back in time in three caves

We visited on a rainy day in August. Accompanied by a 12 year old and a 15 year old and our greyhound.
With the dog we are not allowed to visit the shire horse farm, but you may go in all the caves and around the Dino part.
Obviously the dinosaur section is a bit young for the teens but it’s fun and the dog was intrigued!
The caves, three fabulous caves with the history.
The caves part took us two hours.
The staff were friendly and directed you along from one area to the next. A great visit for most ages.
Ok not the infirm and you’d struggle with buggy age children but those walking should manage.

Thank you for your recent visit to The National Showcaves Centre for Wales, and for taking the time to award our attraction 5/5 stars! Your very kind words have been passed along to the rest of the team. Pushchairs are permitted on site, but are not permitted into our three caves (owing to narrow underground passageways and stepped sections). There are areas to park pushchairs near each cave entrance before moving on to the next cave/area. There are also numerous inclines and declines on site, so we therefore recommend 'papoose' style carriers as a suitable alternative. Thank you once again.
