Schlitterbahn, overall is a decently designed park park. Food is somewhat cheaper than that of Worlds and Oceans of Fun is and the lines are way smaller at Schlitterbahn. Although the lines are shorter and food is cheaper I still prefer Worlds and of Fun. The rides at Schlitterbahn are closed most of the time and since the largest slide got closed due to the incident in 2016 there really isn’t too much to do there anymore. The thing I liked the most was the lazy river and how it connects to other places in the park. Overall the park is decently fun but could be a whole lot better. If I was giving my personal recommendation I would buy an Oceans and Worlds of Fun pass because it’s way more fun there and way bigger.

Waterpark is set up good. Like being able to bring our own food/ drinks in. Lines move pretty quick. Staff is friendly. Just hope they can get more staff so all the attractions can be opened! That was the only thing we didn't like. Overall we all had a really good time! We will definitely be going back.

We used to visit shlitterbahn a couple times a year. Large lazy river. Wave pool is ok. Some decent slides. With large slide decommissioned due to an accident we have not visited since.

Well, the rides exist, but the state won't let you ride them because they're closed for maintenance/compliance. Imagine a waterpark, now imagine a waterpark with no rides and only a few particularly terrible people there. So much fun! ...And the owner is criminally liable for the decapitation of a child. If you must go to a waterpark, just go to Oceans of Fun. It may be on the other side of town, cost a million dollars, but the slides are open. ...and there's an Adult Only swim up bar, which also will cost you several thousand dollars to drown out the swarms of screaming children and terrible parents.

We opened all rides in 2018, although slide towers were delayed due to new requirements imposed related to paperwork. Our colleagues at Oceans of Fun have a great park and it's worth a visit as well.
There was a horrible tragedy our park in 2016, and the ride on which it occurred was immediately closed and has since been dismantled. Schlitterbahn settled with all parties. We came thinking we’d have an awesome family day. Not the case. Several of the slides were closed. (Later told this was due to staffing issues.) the sign at the bottom of the slide appeared that my youngest son would actually be able to ride it, but then after waiting 45 minutes told at the top he was not tall enough. (Supposedly this was fixed and adjusted to “true to hieghf”) and then the worst of the worst is my oldest son and I ended up with abrasions due to staff not paying attention and allowing too many people through the line. We spoke with the team lead three times during our three hour stay who assured us everything would be taken care of. Being a nurse the “first aid” looked as if she’d never seen blood before so bandaged my own wound and my sons.
The only reason I gave one star was one because I had to, and two when I wrote the Park the manager was quick at responding. However calling corporate office, no return call no email back. I didn’t want free tickets, but was offered free pizza and told the “newer lifegaurds” would be trained.
If you want a water park in KC; spend the money and go to oceans of fun in the northland. I’ll post pictures however a little graphic. My sons abrasion is fairly deep (hard to see in the picture) and mine was terrible.

Interlinking lazy river keeps you from ever leaving the water! Tidal waves and rapids on the lazy river create a fun adventure throughout the park. Rides are varied in speed and height. The waterboard allows for knee boarding experiences at no extra cost. Entire facility was clean. Well supervised by life guards. Definitely a must do for our future trips to KC!

Half the park(notably the king kaw) is closed for poorly disclosed reasons. Normally a lack of staff is blamed, which isn't a viable reason, HIRE MORE(20 guests would pay the wages of the lifeguards for the kaw).
I fully agree with the rumor that schlitterbahn kc will close after 2019, if it even makes it that far.

It was very frustrating for everyone to not have King Kaw open, and unfortunately, despite our efforts to hire, we were unable to get to the staffing levels needed. And it wasn't a budget reason, we simply did not have enough individuals apply. Rivers are a key feature of the experience and require the most lifeguards, and we reduced prices in recognition that King Kaw was closed.

I was hesitant to go because I’d heard a lot of the rides had been closed when people went, but there were only 2 closed. A negative is they don’t post rides that will be open until right before the park opens each day. Park is easy to get around in and you can save a lot of money by bringing in a cooler. Not a lot for small children to ride(especially because one of the child areas was closed). Staff was friendly. We went on a Wednesday, and there were not a lot of people which meant our 8 year old had a blast riding with very little wait. Park was very clean.

Check the website/Facebook or call the park to set your expectations for open rides before going. This year, King Kaw has not been open on weekdays, that’s a big deal so unfortunately I gave 4 star because of closed rides (reflects on management issues if u ask me - they should have been ready for 2018 including the KS over zealous inspector), but today was otherwise awesome and we’ll be back for sure.
We arrived 30 minutes early it was a light line. Arrival staff was friendly, we did a Groupon and it worked fine. Parking is free and they let u take food and drinks into the park, tunes were free, a huge savings. We were able to get a covered picnic table without running.
I’ve noted some negative reviewers seem to want a lot out of the park, perhaps too much. It had the feel of Schlitterbahn TX, home towny, not corporate perfection, staffed by teenagers. Crowds built up throughout the day but never super bad lines. I guess if a person thinks a successful, great water park is huge lines like in New Braunfels then it wasn’t full enough but for us we had a grand ‘ol time tubing around the river rapids all day and riding slides here and there. We got lunch there, didn’t take too long and was delicious.
Staff throughout the park was courteous and friendly.
So... there’s obviously a lot of context to this particular Schlitterbahn location, glad to hear the big elephant in the park will be taken down this year as it looms over everything. Time to move on from all that. I hope the state of KS prosecutors and inspectors take a collective breath and also move forward before they drive this place out of business as there is nothing like it in the region.
Final thoughts - I don’t know what the grand plan was for the park originally, but it felt like the foundation of the park is built, kind of small other then a great river system (worth the price of admission for us), but is ready for build up of more thrill rides and other types of slide rides. My wife and I both agreed our teenagers might get bored after 3-4 hours and our 6 & 9 year olds would have had to stick with the rivers as there wasn’t much they could have ridden otherwise. So... thanks for a great day, we’ll be back and hope the park gets completed eventually.

Loved how basically the entire park connected with lots of lazy rivers that were more fun than just floating since they included rapids or waves. There were a few attractions closed, so if everything had been up and running that would have made it a little better. Some ideas they had though like their wave pool lazy river was unlike anywhere else I've been. We will definitely go back.

Let’s assume the same rides (King Kaw please!) are all open... Any big difference on crowd size on a Friday vs Saturday in July that would make Friday better?
We have only noticed a slight difference in crowds from Friday to Saturday.

The structure is still there, but it is permanently closed. Odds are it will be demolished soon.
My son is under 42 inches. Can he ride with an adult on slides?

Yes If the slides are built to use a tube with multiple people he can. Some of the slides are for one person at a time and he can not ride those with an adult.

Im coming from NYC in August wanted to ask a few questions before I come...
1- Is it better to come during the week or is the weekend not so crowded where it would be worth it?
2- Should we spend 1 or 2 days in the park? Can we finish everything in 1 day?
3- Hotel recommendation that isn't far from the airport & water park?

My son is a lifeguard there and suggests during the week is best, Tuesday or Wednesday. Get there when park opens. One day is enough. It's not that big. Some hotel nearby that is not too expensive.

Hi, I am traveling from Chicago to the Park and want to make sure that my party of 3 (214lb, 124lb, 114lb) can get to ride Veruckt. I thought you could reserve a spot on-line, but it doesn't let you "not select" a cabana. So I am not sure how to do that. Is it possible? If not, when you get to the park, what do you recommend? Where do you go to reserve? Are you guaranteed to ride that day? How does that process work? If I wasn't traveling 8 hours to check this off the bucketlist...you get the idea. Most appreciated.

We are excited that you are coming down! Here are the answers to your questions:
1. Yes, that combined weight is well within the range to ride as a group.
2. Yes, you can reserve a Verruckt Early Tide Time slot for $45 per ride. These take place in the hour before we open to the general public. You should be able to reserve one without renting a cabana. Please give us a call at 913-312-3110 if you continue to have issues with that.
3. All reservations during normal operating hours are only taken day-of and at the base of the Verruckt tower starting at the park's scheduled opening time. Now a insider tip is that we actually let guests into the front section of the park in the hour before park opening. The rides are not open yet, however it allows you to grab a picnic table for the day.
4. My best advice is get to the park early - especially if you are coming on a weekend - to ensure that you are able to ride without waiting in a long line. Even if guests arrive after reservations are full for the day, they can enter our walk-up line and still be able to ride. However, the wait there can be pretty lengthy. Getting here early for a reservation is definitely recommended!

I have been waiting like many people I know for the waterpark to have more of the things you talked about when you were planning on coming here to KC. Like Treehaus's, indoor waterpark, etc. Is the plan to make this a smaller version of your TX locations? And do you still plan on adding the additional items that got people like me very excited when you first came to town or have you decided to cancel that and just focus on being a water park and not a vacation village?

I noticed that Verrukt has a weight minimum and max of 3 riders. We want to get there early and get a reservation. We have a group of four and in order for us to meet the weight minimum, Three would be required which leaves one person out. How do you manage single riders? Can they reserve a time to go with other single riders or are they just out of luck?

Hello!
For the single rider, our first step would be to go through the folks waiting to get on the reservation list to see if there are any more single riders to get the boat to the 400 lb - 550 lb range.
If not, we will put the single rider down as a reservation and then pull single riders from the walk-up line to meet the weight requirements.
To sum it up, it won't be a problem! Have fun!!
