Closed Sunday and Monday...

By all appearances this winery may be closed permanently. Definitely call before making the trip. We were disappointed that google indicates this winery is open daily.

out of wine

We drove to the winery based on the signs on the highway, including 1 3/4 mile rough gravel road. Once we got there there was a worn sign saying they were out of wine and waiting for another crop. The vines did not look like they were worked in the past year. I would not make the trip without calling in advance. They may get it back running again. I wish they would cover their highway signs.

Wow, loved the place, the owner was fun and knowledgeable. Wine was fabulous, hard to choose. Nice gift shop made Christmas shopping 2012 easy to finish.

Not exactly my glass of wine either. We expected better but it was not to be. I am not saying their wine is bad just not to my taste. Try it and see you might find you like it.

Nice to visit
This winery is stuck way back in the boonies, but once you get there you are greeted with very friendly people. The display room is nicely decorated and you can sample all the wines available. Prices are good, too. They have a store in Winfield on Main Street, too, that you can check out.

Windswept Winery
I accidently found the Windswept Winery south of Udall, Kansas on the Internet. I travel to Hutchinson, Kansas once or twice a year to visit relatives. In January 2008, I decided to stop by the winery. I am so glad I did!

The winery is located on a country road south of Udall on County Road 21 then west 2 miles on County Road 92. I found the setting to be rather charming, peaceful, and serene.

The owner was very friendly and let me sample his fine wines for free. I bought three different kinds of wines. One of his wines won a ribbon at the Kansas State Fair.

Strongly recommend that anyone who has time to venture off the beaten path to visit the Windswept Winery south of Udall, Kansas!
