I thoroughly enjoyed myself at The Caravan! There is plenty of free parking, which is always a plus. I went to the early show (7:15) and the doors opened at 6:30 giving me time to get my ticket and check out the menu before being seated. The venue is being updated by the new ownership and has a lot of upside as far as amenities. It is an intimate showroom with no bad seats. Prices are great! The only down side was a server never came to get my order. I wasn't starving but could have used a little something during the show.

Our tradition each year for our anniversary is to stay at the Brown Hotel, eat at a great restaurant and see a show at the comedy club! This year we were actually so rushed for time that dinner had to be skipped because I look more forward to the comedy that the fine restaurants in Louisville! :-)
It's a hit or miss on the opening acts sometimes, but the headliner never lets us down!

My boyfriend and I had a blast! Comics told decent jokes and the food was very good. We found a Groupon online so for 2 adult tickets it was only $12 instead of $30. We both had dinner and 2 drinks and the bill was $70. It was a bit pricy but well worth it. I got the purple drink which was $13 a piece. Very good. I recommend!

The headliner comedians are pretty good for the most part. Some of the opening acts not so much. I would have given this a higher rating, but the place is kinda shabby and rundown & the food is not that great. Recommend eating before or after the show.

Hadn't been to the comedy club for a number of years and opted to go see a Louisville favorite, Bob Batch. Bob's routine was excellent as expected but the MC and opening act were abysmal. The ambiance of the place is gone... nothing like the heydays of the Comedy Caravan. Wait staff was sparse and menu items so-so. Unless you really like a particular act, I'd say spend your money elsewhere

Hubby and I decided to try The Laughing Derby for a date night in Louisville. We had never been to a comedy club before so we were unsure of how we would like the experience. The club itself sits back off the road...next to some kind of grocery/mall/super buffet. Our GPS took us past it so make sure you know where you're going.
Once inside, we picked up our tickets and was seated within about 15 minutes. Get there early for better seats. Steve Hofstetter was the headliner for the night and we both liked him and thought he was pretty funny. We really liked the guy who talked before him, but can't remember his name! The club has a two item minimum and offers a wide variety of nachos, some other food items, desserts, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic drinks.

Tickets are cheap, but there's a 2 item purchase minimum and 18% gratuity already included...just something to consider before purchasing. I had never heard of this place, but saw it on Groupon - so I went to the calendar on their website to see who was performing...when I saw Dan Cummins' name, I got so excited! My boyfriend and I absolutely love him. So I got our tickets and convinced 5 friends to join us. We were not disappointed. The place is very small and intimate, and I think it would have been a different experience if we didn't have the seats they gave us...there's a bar top close to the back, but it's higher than the floor level, you have to step up to it, we got to sit right there, so no heads were blocking our view, I felt like Dan made eye contact with me much of the night, it was a really cool seat. The opener was hilarious (Miguel Dalmau). My face hurt from laughing and smiling before Dan even hit the stage. It was a really good show. The service sucked. Guess that 18% gratuity means you don't have to be attentive to customers. I was fine, ordered my 2 items at the beginning and was done, but some of my friends wanted more drinks throughout the show but never saw our waitress. Had to flag another waitress down to go find ours. The place itself is not pretty, but whatever. Dan even commented on the carpet and stains on the ceilings that looked like mud. Bottom line, for us, we went there to laugh, and we sure did a lot of that. I think the comedians will make all the difference at this club, you'll either love it or hate it based on the comedy you heard.

Super intimate venue, especially if you arrive early as the closest seats are no more than 5 feet from the performer, talk about being up close and personal with your favorite comedian, lol. The venue itself is located on the side of the Mid City Mall in an alley, which can be slightly confusing. Doors were supposed to open at 6:30, however I arrived around 6:15pm to discover that both the box office and doors had already opened, luckily I was able to still get a seat no less than 10 feet from the stage. Seating here is very basic and not comfortable for a long period of time, tables are shared with groups of four, so you might make some new friends unless you arrive with a group of four. Drink service was spotty, which made getting the two drink minimum challenging at times however you just need to be patient as your waitress makes her way back around. Prices were reasonable with 6 drinks and an 18% gratuity being added to the final bill of 6 beers came out to just under $40, not bad considering the venue.
Overall the show itself was pretty good, the local emcee came out and got the crowd warmed up a few minutes before introducing the opener who was on stage for about 20 minutes, the headliner performed just about an hour. Merchandise was being sold on the way out, which it slightly challenging getting outside, so again just be patient. Overall this was a decent venue that seemed to have some pretty good talent visiting soon. I am not sure that I will be back anytime soon however The Laughing Derby provides a super intimate venue to enjoy some great laughs with your favorite comedian.

This was my second time going to the laughing derby. The first time was great. Great service, great comedians. The second time was very recently and I had expected the same great night with a group of my girl friends. That being said, I should state that I am among the younger viewers in the crowd (18-20). The show itself was wonderful and hilarious, as well as our waitress being extremely helpful. However, before the show had begun, like everyone else, we went to the box office to receive our tickets. I don't know if it had been a terrible day, or maybe even because I do look too young to be there, but the woman there was awful. I explained what I was there for and stated my name. However, she did not hear that I had said anything and began to treat me like an idiot. Repeating the same statement 7 ( yes I counted) times even though I had answered the first time she asked, then continued to treat me as if i couldn't comprehend anything, like a small child. Yes i am venting because this made me feel angry and honestly a little hurt. Im an intelligent young woman who makes sure to show respect to everyone and i don't think belittling me simply because I did not speak loud enough is the kind of interaction guests should ever encounter. I am not going to bash the entire establishment, or even this woman because she could've just been having a terrible day. However, if this had been my first interaction the first time I had come I would've walked out and not come back.

Normally I have a decent time here, but the last show has been a terrible experience. While the performers themselves were fine, the serving staff was sparse and hard to reach unless our bill was concerned. Worse of all was that my date complained of something in her drink that she thought was ice; she spat out a piece of glass or clear plastic. She went to address this but the pieces she gave them were quickly thrown out and they told was it was only ice. They did later refund the price of the drink, but dismissing her complaint as if it were nothing more than a lie rubbed both of us wrong. She's recovering at UofL as the doctors confirmed that it was glass she ingested.
While the obvious complaint of don't put glass in your food and drinks so others don't end up cutting up their insides is apparent, treating each complaint regarding a contaminant in your food should be taking very seriously! Throwing away that evidence then attempting to convince us it was something else, is negligent to the health of your patrons you would like to come back while recommending others to your establishment.
