Very disappointed. I did not find the acres of gravestone especially interesting. The greenery was also not exceptional.

This place is just exceptionally beautiful. It's filled with amazing history and the most beautiful statues and gravestones you can imagine. Most people stop for the famous people but I urge you to explore deeper than just them. The gardens, fountains, and bodies of water just tie the whole place together. Be sure to look up the interesting history of the cemetery before you go.

I had planned to stop by this beautiful cemetery on day 1 of my visit to Louisville, however, this giant crazy storm came through which caused closures throughout the city. I was disappointed that Cave Hill Cemetery, was one of those closures due to unsafe conditions (trees/branches down).
Thankfully, they finally opened up on the day that I planned to leave Kentucky!! I felt so fortunate to get to visit such a beautiful area with thoughtfully dedicated stones and memories. There are many notable figures resting there, be sure to give yourself plenty of time, as they are spread out and gorgeous stones will distract your walk.
The online map and symbology guide was great, as I've got a big interest in grave symbols.
Two things I took away from my visit:
1) Be sure you have at least 2 hours if you want to take your time and look around.
2) There are some scary geese near the offices. I took the long way around to get to my car. They surrounded my friend.

We visit historic cemeteries frequently while traveling in order to pay our respects to those who have touched our lives in some way through their actions or through their legacy. From the minute we passed through the cemetery gates, we noticed how beautiful the cemetery is. Not only is the cemetery well maintained, but it is filled with tributes in the form of art, particularly sculpture. We had a map and were able to stop by the final resting places of Col. Harland Sanders of KFC fame and Muhammad Ali, but we were so taken by sites along the road that we stopped to investigate. The "Shall We Dance" dancing couple is extraordinary and so moving that we are not likely to forget our moment there any time soon. The Tree sculpture in honor of a landscape designer. We did locate the Satterwhite Memorial replicating the Petit Trianon at Versailles and the Gheens Mausoleum with its Last Supper (da Vinci) window. The National Cemetery is beautiful and haunting in its extensiveness and its design with rows of white headstones. Thanks to the cemetery for its yellow road line to Col. Sanders and its green road line to Muhammad Ali, but even with the map we couldn't locate some of the other graves and monuments we had hoped to see. Still was more than worth our time to visit!!

The grounds are very well cared. There are some interesting and attractive grave markers and we enjoyed the wide variety of trees and landscaping. The map was nice to have and vital in order to follow the lovely winding roads, but exact markers were sometimes hard to find.

Our must sees are The Satterwhite, 'Sami', 'Jesse', the dancing couple is very cool, and we love the magician. Such a beautiful tranquil place. The trees were spectacular this weekend.

What an interesting experience. We enjoyed it greatly. What a great trip to visit. My grandkids loved to watch and see what was there.

Very fun stop. We have been to many cemeteries while on vacations but this was one of the best. Well manicured and some really massive and unique stones. We found Colonel Sanders, Muhammed Ali and a unique lodge area with a giant elk.

Have not seen a lot of cemeteries but this one is pretty special. Some of us were big M Ali fans for years.

We plan to visit the cemetery on our way back home to MI. We have a travel trailer and for obvious reasons don't want to drive thru the park with it. Is there a place we can unhook it so we can visit quietly?

It is definitely worth visiting...the most beautiful cemetery I've ever seen.
