The lake is so beautiful! Beautiful park, some of bathrooms need TLC especially Saltlick ramp. I don't suggest Renos Steakhouse if you stay in morehead it's very expensive and not top quality. We stayed at the Hampton in Morehead. Very clean and very friendly staff.

Underwhelming Beach Experience

The Lake itself is beautiful. The beach however is another story. When I was a kid Cave Run Lake beach was the best beach in KY. Now 75% of the beach is overrun with grass and weeds. The swim area has greatly diminished over the years as well. The whole cove area used to be roped off for swimming, now maybe half is available to swim. The sign says no lifeguard on duty however the beach is patrolled by power hungry overweight workers on golf carts that want to ruin your relaxing beach experience. Don't recommend. The beach has so much potential and they are letting it go to waste. The greatest waste was the cost of $10 to get in.

I had an amazing time while visiting Cave Run Lake, it was very beautiful, the fishing was great, and there is so many trails to hike and just very beautiful surroundings.

Great lake for all activities. Its very clean and in areas without a lot of boat traffic, its crystal clear. The beach within Zilpo campground and the boat launch at this location were nice. We kayaked on the lake and had a great time. There's plenty of spots to pull off, get out and swim. The lake was plenty large enough to feel like there was plenty of space to kayak or canoe even with boating, tubing, wave runners, house boats, etc. on a holiday weekend.

Had a wonderful camping experience at Cave Run Lake Twin Knobs campground! Highly recommend camping here! J14 and J9 site is an awesome double sight with lake view!

Great lake to explore, in some places the water was like glass, perfectly clear. So beautiful! We were here during a weekday and it was not crowded in any area we explored.

I discovered Cave Run Lake recently on my business trip to Somerset. Absolutely gorgeous surroundings with great fishing. I found a local guide and stayed for two days of fishing. We caught few huge Musky’s just like that. If you’re into fishing I highly recommend you give it a try here at Cave Run. One of the best lakes I’ve ever fished

The Cave Run Lake area offers many opportunities. The 8000+ acres of Cave Run offers excellent water quality for swimming, boating, sailing and fishing. Cave Run is the best place for Muskie Fishing in the South.
The Sheltowee Trace National Hiking Trail crosses the Lake at the Dam and offers many excellent vistas of the Lake.

If you like being out doors and in nature this lake is great. Stayed at a campground. Did all kinds of things. The only regret I have about taking a trip here is not being able to stay a little longer.
