You get to meet the local legend who started this club at the front desk. Beat that!
Some negative reviewers are probably just negative people, because this place has everything you need to shape your body, and do it in style while being surrounded by friendly people with similar goals.
The price is high to join, but is incentive to stay and make it your workout home.

Dear Fariver, why so angry? Considering this is your one contribution on TripAdvisor, I fear you've done the Lafayette community a grave disservice.
I am a professional yoga instructor and health advocate from Lafayette now based in Geneva, Switzerland, and there is not enough space here to recommend Red Lerille's adequately. I have lived in many major cities (Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, DC) as well as abroad (Spain, Sweden, Switzerland) and I have found nothing/zip/zero that compares to Red's, especially at this price point (which is beyond reasonable). Maybe Fariver should come to my current digs in Switzerland, and see how far his $60 will go... soup & sandwich, anyone?
My family and I have been members of this wonderful gym since the 1970's, and we have never looked back. Red himself has shown decades-long commitment to providing above-and-beyond for his health-minded members in terms of equipment, diversity, instruction, member services, facilities, you-name-it. If you find better for your money or even double your money, let me know. I'll come visit.
Beyond consistently offering the best of everything, the staff and clientele form a family. You'll feel the love (for real!) the first time you are welcomed at the desk. Some staff members have worked there since I was a child (I am now 52), which I doubt is the case for most gyms.
I love you, Red Lerille's. No matter where I go in the world, I can't wait to come home to you. Thank you for the decades of keeping the Lafayette community united in happier, healthier living. Thank you specifically for taking such good care of my dad. In gratitude!

It's a massive gym and easy to get lost in. The gym has an indoor track 14 laps to a mile and an out door track that is 5 laps to the mile. I grew up in Lafayette before joining the military. I never joined until recently. I can say hands down that this is the best Gym I have ever been in. They have 5 pools, great customer service, and nearly no wait for any equipment.
To be fair I'm only comparing this gym to the like of Gold's Gym, 24 hour fitness, Military Gyms, Planet Fitness, Snap Fitness, and most of your "local" gyms. Mr. Red himself seems to always be in the Gym. He also has no problem making small talk with even the new customers. If you like Tennis, or Basket ball this gym is also for you.
Now like most gyms the food, drinks, and specialized merchandise is a bit expensive but that is also how most gyms make their money. The local trainer rates are also commissioned based. Meaning they are on stand by but the trainer themselves have a say in how much they will charge for the service. Something 24 hour fitness refuses to do (as they pay there trainers hourly). So if you are in the Lafayette area give it a visit. They will likely give you a few days free just to try it and you can decide for yourself if you love it or not.

Red's is an amazing club - the absolute best in the USA ! And it is so affordable and Red LeRille himself is present everyday and is love and devotion to his club and his customers is incredible. How blessed Lafayette is to have this fantastic facility. It is more than a membership - its a lifestyle ! Thank you Red LeRille and your devoted staff for all you do !

This gym is truly the largest and top notch gym out there. This gym sports 1000 pieces of equipment which makes it convenient to workout cause you always have a choice of your favorite machines. I have been to such a large and super nice gym. This is a two story gym with about 20 or 30 tennis courts including several indoor tennis courts with several indoor racket ball courts. It also possesses several indoor basketball courts as well as a boxing ring and three pools. Not to mention the owner was a mr America and is one of the best human beings I have ever met. He is in his 70’s and still opens his own gym at 3 am every morning. He is a man of great faith and it shows in his love and generosity. If you are passing through the area and are looking for a great gym that sells day passes this is the place for you. Truly an awesome gym!!!!!!

I'm a member for a few years and some friends visited recently. I took them to Red's and it reminded me how good we have it. Lafayette is very lucky to have a place like this and a neighbor like Red.

Red's has been around for years. In terms of facilities, it has to be one of the finest facilities in the south. Affordable too!

Love spending time here. I could hang here all day. Go for a swim, a yoga class, hit the weight room or body pump class, cold pudge, steam room then hang out with the friends, eat, drink awesome juice, have drinks with friends and so much more believe it or not! So much to do here and wonderful staff! Love Reds! Thanks to Red and his staff for all you do for our community!
