Absolutely amazing! I have been on almost all the cruises Portland has to offer and this way by far the best. The crew of the Francis were efficient professionals. Erica is so knowledgeable and fun to listen to. We sampled wines from Sicily, each one was delicious with the option to buy a bottle after the cruise. I will recommend this to all my guests or anyone traveling to Portland!

This was my second time having the privilege to sail on the Frances and her wonderful crew. Erica makes the trip fabulous with her knowledge of wines and oysters. She keeps the event very interesting. This is a must do if you are in the Portland area. Thank you Erica for another wonderful time.

The wine wise sail featuring Italian wines was absolutely perfect. The wines were delicious, the experience classy and the sailing breathtaking. It’s such an awesome event that I would highly recommend!

The organization and thoughtfulness that goes into the wine sails is amazing. Every detail thought out and seamless. The wines are superb, and learning about them and their regions is very fun. I love the oyster sails. Plenty to go around. The schooner Frances is beautiful and spotless. Seats for all. You do not want to miss this in Portland!!

Our 2-hour evening wine sail was one of the most enjoyable events we have enjoyed in a long time. The sailing was great- we were actually under sail for virtually the entire time, which doesn't always happen with such events. The wine was delicious and the information and guidance was interesting and practical. The entire staff was excellent. We plan to go again as soon as possible.

After two experiences with Wine Wise, I feel confident saying this is a unique and fun way to spend a couple of hours on the water. The sunset cruise views cannot be beat. Erica is passionate and knowledgeable about wines that are off the map — she goes out of her way to find small growers, women-owned vineyards, and tiny productions. She knows what’s she talking about.
You’ll leave with a new appreciation for wines you’ve never tasted (or heard of!) before.

The Virtual Wine Dinners have been a godsend during this pandemic. Wonderful food delivered with 2 bottles of wine. The food, wine and mostly the social interaction via Zoom has been a nice diversion from the day to day boredom of pandemic living. The food is prepared by some of the best chefs in the Portland area. I must admit that I was a bit skeptical at first about how the food would travel. It has been fantastic. The chefs have been so creative coming up with ways to prepare and package excellent quality food that travels well. Erica has done a fantastic job of pairing delightful wines with these meals. Best of all sharing time with Erica, the chefs and other participants has been a unique enjoyable experience. Not to mention no driving home!

We have been going to WineWise virtual wine dinners through 2020 and will continue in 2021. They are fun, informative and you don't have to drive afterwards! They come with 2 bottles of wine and a several course dinner for 2. We had never done zoom before, but Erica made it comfortable and relaxing. Instructions are provided for each dish as you go with the chef there to guide you. Usually it's simply reheating or mixing something. The food is always excellent and the wine pairings impeccable. We have tried many new wine varieties we probably would have never tried on our own. Delivery is contact free and safe. Definitely a blessing to have these dinners available during Covid-19.

We've been on several Wine Wise events -- various wine walks and sails -- and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Of course with the pandemic, those won't be happening again for a while. But the ever-resourceful and creative Erica has come up with a new event that is a perfect viable option -- virtual wine dinners.
Wine Wise has partnered with several of Portland's best restaurants and delivers food and two bottles of wine to your door shortly before the event kicks off. Attendees participate via Zoom. We had never used this video conferencing program before, but we had no problem at all loading and operating it. Erica was able to go around and have everyone introduce themselves, and ask questions if they wished, just as they would in person. In fact, for some reason, I felt this was an even more intimate experience than if we were actually sitting around a table together. And having the chef with us online for the entire experience was certainly a plus, too.
And the food and wine -- superlative! One of the wines was very good, and the other, a sparkling wine, was excellent. The menu changes from event to event; our meal was one of the best I've had in months. Both the appetizer (a spinach and ricotta torta) and main course (cod and scallop gnocchi in a lemon cream sauce) needed just a few minutes of warm-up time in the oven (we were given instructions ahead of time to have our ovens set and then told during the dinner when to put the dishes in). The food did not suffer in the least; it couldn't have tasted any better coming straight from the restaurant's kitchen. Oh, and the house-made bread was fantastic, too.
Along with general instructions, Erica had emailed everyone copies of information sheets about the wines we were having. There are multiple virtual wine dinners scheduled for the future. All of the menus I've seen sound very appealing.
This was such a fun evening -- the food, wine, and virtual companionship were all such a treat, and everything ran so smoothly. Thank you, Wine Wise, for creating such a great experience for these unusual times.

Hello Susan,
Thank you for your interest in our Wine Sails. At the moment we do not have a Wine sail scheduled for August 20, but we're adding new events all the time.
We are not allowed to include a website address in our response here. If you google 'wine wise events portland maine' you'll find us. All of our events are listed on our site and you can also sign-up for event email updates there as well. email us and let us know how many people in your party.
