Great place for families! The center is sparkling clean, interactive, and had some live animals (frog, turtles, and snake (we didn't get to see them this time around). Our visit was short since we had reservations elsewhere, but we would definitely come back. There are outside trails and a playground that we didn't get to. Nice gift shop at the entrance as well. We came right when it opened at 9am, and it was nice to have the place to ourselves for the first 30 min.

Searching for something to do when grandchildren were visiting in December, I came upon Robinson. What a delight! The girls really liked the hands on room with dress ups, puzzles, and the touch tank. The outside playground was really unique. We had a hard time tearing them away so we could go have lunch.

Very nice facility for learning a bit more about local nature. Fantastic planetarium - an excellent show for all ages.

Five of us spent the afternoon of Thursday, 19 June 2019 at the Robinson Nature Center in Columbia, MD. The main building has quite beautiful stonework inside and out. There is an inviting lounge with fireplace off the lobby. Lots of well done exhibits. We spent an hour or more in the Discovery Room. The children, 4 and 6 yrs. old, had fun trying on the Naturalist jackets and animal costumes. The clown fish costume was especially cute. We played with several of the puzzles and contents of themed storage bins. The children provided us with an entertaining puppet show featuring several stuffed animal toys. We delighted seeing the residents of the large aquarium. Outside we walked down to the play area and had fun seeing the large hollowed out tree trunks lying on the ground. The children played at baking "bread" and "cupcakes" using wood chips from the ground as the ingredients and spices. We finished by taking a walk though the woods along the shady path.

Robinson's Nature Center is a great place to take your children, your friends or your family. There are lovely hiking trails and special events and displays inside the Center.

We took our granddaughter here over the weekend for the Frozen Fest. The event was a lot of fun from watching a demonstration of what liquid nitrogen can do to toasting marshmallows. The property is really nice and well run. We enjoyed interacting with the staff and our granddaughter was so excited to learn about plants and animals there. We did not walk down any of the trails but hope to go back again for that. And they have a small gift shop near the entrance with some cute nature related items for kids if you are looking for a unique gift.

Those of us who live in the nearby neighborhoods are so lucky to have this beautiful nature preserve close by and if you are driving a long distance it is worth the trip. Upon driving in you know it is a special place peaceful and natural.

Our first time visiting (won't be the last) we brought our 3 grandchildren for the Lil' stars - galaxies program. Our grandkids are 3,4, and 6. This was an excellent program, short but very understandable for their age. Then we toured the facilities and the kids loved it. Everything from being able to touch a real snake to the bee hive presentation and the trails outside. As mentioned before, this will not be our last time visiting. Highly recommend for families.

We came here recently with friends and out-of-town visitors. All of us are adults, and we all had a wonderful time at the Center. I loved the walk to the front door, through a meadow of native plants. I found out that coneflowers and annual ageratum are natives. There’s also a lovely artificial stream that attracts birds and dragonflies. Inside we were told to stop in the Discovery Room. Although it’s primarily for kids, we liked seeing the live sea creatures, snakes and frogs. Down the hall is a beautiful artificial tree with pictures of animals and plants on the huge “leaves.” It leads to a ramp you walk down to see exhibits that reflect the natural local environment with lifelike animals and plants. Outside this area was my favorite room. It had several sofas where you could sit and look out at birds visiting several feeders and an outdoor flowery environment that’s perfect for bees. Their hive is inside the room, and you can get a close-up look at them through the glass walls. They leave the hive through a wide pipe and go out to gather honey. Next time, when it’s a little cooler and I remember to bring a hat, I want to take the nature trail down to the river.
