One of my favorite things I did this summer. Saw many Wales, a shark and a huge sunfish. The wales were very active and even breached. Great experience. I do however not recommend this for young children.

The whale watch was our 2nd to last stop on our 3 week swing through the north east. This was my wife's favorite stop on the whole trip and brought her to tears. She has always wanted to see whales and the two hump backs that showed up made this trip that much more special

Super memorable expereince! I saw seals, dolphins and whales! It felt like a bucket list event. It got super chilly so going inside and getting some nachos & cheese was nice.

We had so much fun. Seeing the whales was majestic. We all really enjoyed hearing about the whales and how they know each whale and their history. It made you feel a part of their lives as you were visiting their home. It is so crazy seeing them in person as I never fully grasp how big they are until seeing them with my own eyes. We got some great pictures.
The gift shop was reasonably priced. There’s snacks and drink to buy on the boat. There is also bathrooms. I don’t think there is a bad seat on the boat. They make sure to turn the boat so both sides can see the whales. Make sure to bring a hat and sunscreen no matter what day.

I highly recommend this whale watch tour! So knowledgeable. They truly care about the ocean wildlife. We were on their last voyage of the season. Saw multiple whales and a surprise group of Atlantic white sided dolphins. Go, you'll love it!(PS:they sell seasick tablets in the gift shop, buy one just in case, my daughter got seasick)

Staff was very education and informative. They made EVERY effort to make sure the people on the tour were given every opportunity to see the whales and dolphins. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful day going out to see whales. We saw a total of 6 different whales and we were so close to them we were able to take some great pictures as well as having time to put our cameras away and enjoy the wonder of the whales. It was a beautiful boat ride out to the whales with blue skies even on the 29th of October. The crew were very great and the Naturalist taught us a lot about these wonderful whales. Would go again for sure!

This was worth every penny and many more!! Book this for your next fun 1/2 day adventure once the season opens in spring 2023. We saw a Minke whale, two types of porpoises, Humpback whales, and in a stunning display on our way in - dolphins!! Even without all of these amazing sightings, the education and excitement of all the crew members was amazing.

I don't know of 7 seas. But will say Cape Ann is a first rate company with great employees. It is up to you which time you go, regardless it will be enjoyable seeing whales!

I know this has a lot of variables, but in summer how does whale watching in Cape Ann compare to Cape Cod? Reviews here seemed happy to see 2-3 whales - is this normal for both areas? I assume all these tours go to the same place (Stellwagen). Any and all info is appreciated!

Totally equal. All tours mostly visit stellwagen bank. Cape Ann tours sometimes visit jeffries ledge and cape cod tours sometimes visit peaked hill bar or cape cod bay. The non-whale sightings can be a little different in each loc but the likelihood of sightings is similar

What's it like around September 20? Is it very cold and choppy? From the pictures it looks like you can go inside if it gets too cold or windy. Is that correct?

Yes the inside cabin is heated. As far as choppy water, it will vary on the weather that day. Even in July and August I have a sweatshirt and sweats in a small backpack. The am cruises are chilly going out but warmer coming back.

As I had said in my review on Tripadvisor that this years trip to Cape Ann Whale Whale Watch was a bit disappointing due to weather conditions. Last year when we went on your whale watch in September both of those trips were at 1 in the afternoon. Wouldn't it be better to do your spring trips also at 1 in the afternoon? That way you could get a better handle on weather conditions. And that would also give questionable weather a chance to clear up.

Our Cape Ann Whale watch tour was at 10am I think. We definitely were fortunate the day we went to see so many whales. I don't know if the time of the whale tour would make a difference or not regarding the weather. The day we went it had been raining like crazy over night & early morning. I was ready to see if we could reschedule, but the rain cleared & we had a great tour.

How close to the whales is the boat allowed to get?

The whales have a lot of choice in it. The boats are close within 100-200 yards but whales are mobile, they are eating as they swim and they come and go near the boats as the food supplies move. They do come quite close and photos are provided to identify the unique tails of the whales so you do certainly know which whales you’ve met. The Crews are extremely knowledgeable of the whales and share that knowledge gladly.

It will be close to 4hours total, it started at 1:30pm and returned at 5:30pm, 1.5 hrs to go and 1.5 hrs to come back and 1hour to watch the whales.
