My husband and I had a spectacular day fishing with Patrick on Pontoosuc Lake. The trip was expertly planned including bathroom breaks. Patrick knew all the spots where the fish were hiding. The boat was extremely comfortable and Patrick even found shade for lunchtime. We did not have to touch the bait or take off any of the many rock bass we both caught. Plus, the final catch of the six hour trip was a nice size small mouth bass. It was a thrill to catch. This is a great trip for anyone that likes to catch fish effortlessly.

Three of us hired captain Paul Tawczynski for a 6 hour ice fishing trip on the morning of 2/19/2016. It was the first time any of us had tried ice fishing and were eager to get started. We were a half hour early and Paul was already on the lake with the holes drilled and the gear setup. Paul met us on solid ground and gave us a briefing on what to do and what to expect on the ice. It was obvious to us that he was not only passionate about fishing but also, maybe more so, about safety. His talk put us all at ease as we ventured onto the ice for the first time. Paul was also very good at giving demonstrations and instruction on how to use the gear and was right on the spot to bait the hooks and reset the gear.
If you have never been ice fishing I can tell you to forget about the notion that ice fishing is all about sitting on a bucket in a hut all day. This trip was far from it, we spent most of the day tending "flags" that had popped up. There were 14 holes setup with 3 or 4 different types of ice fishing rigs that were spread out over an area of about 50 square yards, or so. We didn't have to wait long for the action to start as a flag popped within the first 5 minutes, it was a small Pickerel. The second flag popped a few minutes later and it was a 2 - 2.5lb bass which was returned to the lake after a couple of pictures.
Paul also setup some panfishing holes in shallower water where we would jig up panfish like Bluegill and Perch while keeping an eye out for popped flags, which indicated a strike on one of the other 14 rigs.
In total we caught over 40 fish between us including a nice 28" Pike which was released. We kept some Bluegill, Perch and a half dozen Pickerel for a fish fry.
We left the ice and went back to Taft Farms & Tackle where graciously greeted by Dan Tawczynski, Paul's father, who filleted our catch and made us feel right at home.
From start to finish, booking to fillet table, this was a great experience that will be remembered fondly for years to come.
Highly recommended!
Thank you Paul and Dan!
