Took a long walk along Kalmus Beach during my Friday afternoon in Hyannis. Lots of shells to collect, pretty view of the harbor. Endless entertainment watching the seagulls crack open their latest clam catches! Imagine it's quite a lovely beach in the summer but for a chilly, breezy afternoon in late April, it was pretty close to perfect!

The Kalmus Beach is a beautiful white sand beach located in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
During our vacation in Cap Cod in August of 2022, I brought and treated my wife and myself for a visit and swim at this gorgeous beach.
Both my wife and I found the beach water to be fairly cool and smooth, and we had fun collecting sea shells, and taking pictures of the gorgeous coastal landscape.
What we also loved about Kalmus Beach is that it shark free because the water is too shallow for sharks to swim and the beach features a large parking lot, concession stand, showers, and other amenities.
When vacationing in Cape Cod, both my wife and I highly recommend that you visit and go for a swim at Kalmus Beach!!!

We love going to this beach. It is never crowded & very peaceful. Wonderful place to Sun bath & relax with a good book.

Water is not clean, since near port with many boats going up and down. Should have been nice 60 yrs ago, but now not worth the visit/time, except for kite surfers.

We had a lovely time at this beach. The only downside is that the sand is rocky and not soft (on the beach and in the water) so wear good water shoes. But otherwise it’s perfect. So pretty, the water is very warm (much warmer than the National Seashore) and there are bathrooms and a really nice snack bar. It’s not just Ice cream and snacks, there’s real food (wraps, quesadillas, salads, etc) and tables so you can eat lunch or even dinner there. It’s open until 9 so eat dinner there and watch the sunset.

This beach is very quiet and serene right on the ocean. Thet also have a snack bar and changing shack. It felt secluded and it was just what I was looking for in a beach.

If you love the smell of sea weed, and a path of shells blocking your way to the ocean this beach is for you. What a disappointment!

Left side of the beach is the "cove" side with calm waters and not much breeze. Good for younger kids in that regard, but FAR too many rocks and shells on the beach for it to be comfortable. Makes digging in the sand not very fun and simply the act of walking murderous. We abandoned this side and headed over to the right.
Right side is the "ocean" side and has great breezes and a little swell. Makes for a more fun swimming experience. The sand is smoother than the cove side with good room for sandcastles and sand play. However the seaweed. OH GOD, THE SEAWEED. It's all over the place and I'm surprised more people don't mention it.
Overall, the kids (9, 6) had fun with their first beach experience, and that's all that really matters. Though personally between the rocks and all the seaweed I wish I researched a bit more and found a more pleasant beach to visit on the Cape.

The beach is really nice! Clean, good snack bar. I love that it has two sides to visit! However, my daughter and I went there today. It was very cloudy and drizzled. We didn’t go in the water because it was too cold and were the only ones on the beach. Once we plopped our stuff down, two guards followed us out and climbed on the chair. I was extremely turned off when overhearing them speak (rather loudly) in front of my 9 year old daughter. They sounded like two drunken sailors with practically every other word a variation of some type of profanity!

My 8yr old and 4 1/2yr old loved this beach. Clean, beautiful and quiet. Lots of seashells and plenty of space to walk around and distance yourself from other visitors. People around were very friendly

No it costs $25 to park there. Free I’d you can walk there. May be free after 4pm as many public beaches are here.

Is there windsurfing rentals on the beach?

No. Please keep in mind that the beach is fairly small and is set among private houses and beachfront and rented cottages. Although it is a great place to collect shells and see the sunrise and sunset I have to rate it okay for swimming there is tons of seaweed!

It was $15 last year not sure it went up but worth it. I like the Lewis Bay side (as you drive in stay to the left). Has a concession stand and restrooms so if you have children it's the best beach. The Bay side avoids the waves and you have the added view of lots of boats

Th beach will be open there is no fee until the end of may but you're not gonna be able to sit on the beach in a bathing suit and go in the water it's way too cold for that

renting umbrellas and beach chairs? no, not that I am aware of, however, you can bring your own
as of last summer, there was a shuttle that went to nearby veteran's beach, but not as far as Kalmus Beach. Kalmus beach is less than 1/2 mile from Veteran's Beach, and about 1 mile from Aselton Park and Hyannis Harbor
