Came to Lexington on a Beautiful fall day to tour the green and take the trolley tour of Minuteman Park. After my tour was over, I visited the 3 historic houses in town, you can get ticket for one or for all 3. This one has a guided audio tour which tells the history of the building. This is located right across the street from the Green and was a meeting place for the militia men prior to the battle.

We travelled all over the Boston Area; Plymouth, Concord, Nantucket, Provincetown, Lowell and this was the only place that required masks. That is their right, and it's also my right to refuse to pay to see it, especially when I had barely walked in the door when someone rudely pushed a mask at my face. So much for that.

Masks required (inside and outside). Currently 101 degrees and they required us to wear a mask because the Lexington Historical Society is requiring it. Seeing it was so hot outside, in the sun, it seemed unreasonable for this request, but the employees were so rude with their request, that we ended up leaving. So much for the fight for freedom from unreasonable rules.

There are lots of old buildings in the world, but as the Tavern was the site of such an important historical event it was really a privilege to visit and to learn more about Lexington's history from within. Elizabeth, a historian who was working during our visit, was particularly helpful and friendly.

There was a quick video about the march of the Redcoats on April 19, 1775, (who temporarily seized this tavern as a post), then visitors take a self-guided tour of the inn. Push a button to hear a speaker describe the items and activities of each room.

I visited the Buckman Tavern in April 2022. It was a very interesting visit. I entered into the gift and book shop and purchased a ticket for $12 which included an audioguide. The self-guided tour was interesting. There were many items and artifacts dating back to 1775. I visited the kitchen, small parlor, large parlor and the taproom. The American patriots met here before the British attacked Lexington on April 19, 1775. It was a very worthwhile experience. I debated about visiting the Hancock-Clarke House and the Munroe Tavern but they are only open on weekends at present and I was departing the area early Saturday morning. So those two I will visit next time.

This is purely historical. Tour the tavern where John Hancock and Sam Adams were nearly captured when the British got to Lexington. Audio included with the tour. Currently an extra exhibit on Women’s Suffrage. Original doors ... duck!

It’s definitely worth looking at the outside and reading about it. The interior tour with an audio tour is interesting, but only takes about 30 minutes. So you have to weigh whether it’s worth $10 per adult. It helps maintain this historic building, so I thought it was worth it. You can pay $20 to tour all three historic buildings in Lexington, including Munroe Tavern and the Hancock-Clarke House. So, if you have time to do all three, that’s a bargain.

The Buckman tavern can be seen right off the green. This was the waiting place for the militia as they waited on word of The Regulars. This is a self guided tour that gives you some insight into that fateful night back in April 1775 when the first shots were fired. There are lots of artifacts to see and the building itself is well preserved. This is a good place to visit to educate yourself about some lesser known history in regards to the battle of Lexington.

Poured all the way there due to tropical storm fallout. We asked if we could use our tickets a day earlier than scheduled so we could do indoor activities as it rained. Staff was very accommodating and allowed us to do so. Ironically enough when we started the first of the three houses the rain stopped and the sun came out! Great history here. Staff at all three sites are very knowledgeable and friendly. Can't wait to come back.
