Just letting you all know, Heifer Farm in Rutland closed late in 2017, and no buyers have come forth for the property yet. Sad - we loved exploring the various "countries," and enjoyed the view, the animals, and the slightly hippy vibe there. Just memories now!

Was just driving down the road and saw the sign... impromptu stop on our Saturday outing. Nice farm and nice store. Wonderful story. A nice destination or wayside stop.

Visited the farm with our 6th grade son. He encouraged the family trip after going with his class. Very knowledgable volunteer guided us through the village

Excellent location for family visit with lots of hands-on experiences and farm knowledge with a focus on global helping. Their fall harvest festival is a must for families with young children because there is something for everyone.

This is a fun place for kids to learn about animals, farming, and the way people live in other parts of the world. It's much better than other, more commercial activities. I look forward to going back!
My toddler year old was able to walk through and look at the animals, while my older kids also enjoyed seeing the homes and imagining how people live.

学校の校外学習でグローバルビッレジに滞在しました。ビレッジ内は電気製品、水以外の食料は持ち込まず、火をおこして配給された材料で生徒たちは自分たちの食事を作ります。分担作業で協力試合ながら夕方から次の日まで過ごします。ビレッジでの体験が終了した次の朝は動物の世話をし、その後自分たちの考え、体験を通して感じたこと、など話し合います。ファーム内で売られているフェアトレードのコーヒー、紅茶など品質も味も良くいいお土産になりました。

Heifer farm is by far the most meaningful place I visited. The global village experience allows you to live a day in the life of a family in extreme poverty. They offer different houses based on the different countries they work with. Additionally, the educational background for the importance of the food system and the preservation of mother earth is encouraging and inspiring. If you are looking for a place that will open your eyes to the hardh realities of the world and that will change your life forever, this is where you want to go.

Heifer International is a long time international charity which provides farm animals for people in resource constrained settings along with help with farming practices. This farm has about 10 examples of different types of homes from countries where Heifer Int'l works or has worked and some of the associated animals including yaks and goats. Although it was mid winter and hence no tours, in the summer there are opportunities for children to attend a day camp. Each hut/home had explanatory signs describing the people and their customs. A nice gift shot was at the end where you can purchase items made by some of these groups.
