Addi and Sandy and the Moroccan Caravan Tours offer extraordinary experiences beyond what large packaged tours could ever match: a warm welcome into the home of Mohammed Tabal, a contemporary painter whose work is sold at iinternational auctions; an encounter with Sufi ritual call and response song in a gorgeous family home in Fes; days of respite, home cooking, deep cultural learning, and creative production at Addi’s family home in the small village of Rissani.
Addi used our time there to help us appreciate the impact of climate change on the water table and in turn on the traditional practices of desert agriculture, family stability, and civic life. Sandy used her endless patience and creativity to help us learn to create tie-dye, ceramics, and paper-making, and book binding. Though this particular combination of activities might have been unique to our tour, I would urge anyone interested in a deep experience of Morocco to join a Moroccan Caravan experience

This was truly an experience of a lifetime! Like no other trip we had been on, we saw and did so much in such a unique country! So much of what the other reviewers wrote was echoed on our trip. From famous sights, to local shopping, to wonderful, unique experiences in both the cities and countryside, Addi and Sandy took care of all the details, making it a comprehensive but relaxing way to travel. The art projects were well planned and fun and we loved the perspectives on intricate mosaic patterns and beautiful gardens. The pace was good, the hotel choices were ‘boutique’ and charming, the size of group was great, the guides in Fes and Marrakesh were amazing and complemented what Addi and Sandy taught us about the history and cultures of the country – Amazirgh, Arab, Jewish and French – and the future direction of the kingdom. By the end of the tour, we had made good friends and look forward to seeing everyone again – what more could one ask?

If you are looking to explore all different parts of the beautiful country of Morocco, look no further! This tour was easy going, very informative, and the best international exploration I’ve ever done. Addi and Sandy care deeply about the culture and history of Morocco, and take you to all different areas, from historic Fes, the Atlas mountains, the Sahara desert region, all the way to the ocean.

Addi and Sandy facilitated and led a great trip, Gardens, Culture, Cuisine, that gave us both an overview (saw 15 of 18 top sights in Morocco from my guidebook) and a personal view (off the beaten path to small villages and family homes) of the wonder that is Morocco. Addi and Sandy have great expertise that they shared with our group. We felt more like travelers amongst friends than tourists!

From start to finish, this experience was a feast for the senses. As an artist, I was blown away by the beauty, the colors, the motifs and the architecture - which I’m already incorporating into my work. Addi & Sandy went above & beyond to ensure we guests were taken care of and shown unique sites and extraordinary cultural experiences. From private dance performances to cooking classes, expert city guides and a stay with an Amazirgh family, shopping at women’s coops, as well as the most spectacular camel trek at sunset to a luxury camp in the Sahara - the entire trip was so thoughtfully curated., and was way better than I’d dared to imagine. The small group was perfect for me, as I’m not one to be in a large herd of tourists. An unexpected bonus was all the history Addi taught us. Incredible trip! Highly recommend!

Our guides, a walking wikipedia for all things Moroccan, Addi Ouadderrou, owner of Moroccan Caravan Tours and Sandy Clinton, a DC-based landscape architect, introduced us to this world, casting its magical spell over those who shared in our journey.
Through his eyes and heart, Addi’s passion for and knowledge of the culture of his homeland demonstrates that this description is real. Sharing his deep Amazigh roots and his broad understanding of the Moroccan cultural heritage, we were fully engaged tourists seeing Morocco through eyes beyond our own. Whether it was making tea, tagines or bread; dancing to live music and drumming; watching embroidery and rug-making with an opportunity to try out our own finger-weaving skills, navigating the colorful freneticism of the souks, walking through mysterious casbahs or basking in the silence of the magnificent, mesmerizing landscapes atop a camel, we were present and “all in.”
This was not simply an introduction to another culture but an immersion in which we felt completely comfortable and at the same time spellbound by its beauty of life. Thanks to this journey, I have Morocco in my dreams when I need a magic carpet to an exotic world where art blooms and hospitality reigns.

Addi and Sandy will take you through a cultural learning experience like no other. We saw a wide swath of Morocco with comfortable, authentic accommodations, excellent food, incredibly informative guides, and lots of flexibility. We were always safe and well informed. We had loads of fun, too! The small group size is very important and gave the travelers the opportunity to tailor the experiences to their needs and desires. I can't say enough good things about this tour company and would recommend Moroccan Caravan Tours to anyone!

Meeting Addi and Sandy, Addi's trusty tour partner, Said our driver, and Addi's family, especially staying in their house, were unforgettable experiences! Everyone was very welcoming with hugs all around by the time we had to leave Morocco. The cultural part of our tour covered the locations and routes the ancient caravans would travel and trade. Addi, being a native of Morocco, shared history, ancient and modern, including cultural, political, agricultural, and the building of structures for living (riads, casbahs, medinas, and houses), dams, farms, and gardens. Sandy was our garden expert who helped with all those unfamiliar plants. The yoga part of our tour was lead by Lili, who is an experienced yoga teacher. We did yoga on roofs, around pools, at the beach, and our desert camp! We rode camals to our camp in the desert, which turned out to be gamping in the desert! The food was amazing. When someone needed special help from Montezuma's revenge to help with the last of many flights of steps to special diets or looking for something special to buy, Addi and Sandy were there to help. I highly recommend the Moroccan Caravan tours to anyone wishing to find out more about the world and one little corner of Africa! Take your French-English dictionary (or friendly French speaker) along just in case Addi is with another part of your group!

For my first ever travel tour I think I hit the jackpot!
I was invited by my friend Sandy, to bring yoga into a cultural tour of Morocco led by a gifted tour guide, Addi Ouadderrou, who was extremely knowledgeable about the places, the history and culture of Morocco, as well as sociopolitical challenges Morocco has endured over the centuries to the present day.
My mission was to infuse our days with just enough yoga to feel greater ease after hours of travel; from the flight, to the luxurious Mercedes van, to the earthy camel rides, and the many walks we took. I offered accessible yoga by poolsides, on a rooftop terrace of our Casbah, and the indoor-outdoor garden spaces of our various Riads, as well as at our campsite in the desert where we practiced yoga using the chairs before dinner, and my favorite spot - on the beach at Essaouira before the setting sun!
Addi took us on walking tours on winding, narrow paths through old Fes to fields of date trees in his home village of Mezguida, a village in Morocco's desert region settled in the 17th century. We learned how the desert was irrigated by an amazing network of aqueducts first created by the Romans, and how the sand dunes act like a natural dam preventing evaporation of the water beneath the sands. We saw stunning Roman ruins in Volubilis and the beautiful Bahia Palace in Marrakech. We learned of the Imazighen people, also known as Berbers, indigenous to North Africa, and the Tuaregs, a nomadic people of the desert known as "the children of the wind".
We enjoyed abundant and delicious foods, opportunities to experience traditional song and dance, star gazing and satellite counting in the mountains and desert. We learned the intricacies of weaving, pottery and tile making, leather and metal work, plus some local phrases to help us feel more as one with these kind people.
There was so much culture, history, sights and sounds packed into this 2 week tour that as I sit here writing, I know you'll just have to go and experience it for yourself! And if you choose to do so, choose one of Addi's tours with Sandy as his gardens expert and all-around cheerful assistant by his side. You will find yourself as welcomed as family, and the other nomads traveling with you will become dear friends by the end of your journey.

I just returned from a magical trip to Morocco that exceeded every expectation!! The two week tour was masterfully led by Addi Ouadderrou, owner of Moroccan Caravan Tours, as well as landscape architect Sandy Clinton. Addi, a native Moroccan, and expert in all aspects of this beautiful and mystical country, including his native Imazighen culture, provided a seamless experience from beginning to end. The tour also included a yoga focus led wonderfully by Lili Robbins. This was truly a deep dive into the culture of Morocco, including the cuisine, art and crafts, history and the beautiful patchwork of people and topography. I woke up everyday like a little kid, excited to see what Addi had planned for us. I highly recommend this tour (or another of Addi’s highly curated experiences) for anyone looking to go way beyond the basic tourist trip.
