Great and nice museum, 9 dollars for adults, 5 dollars for seniors and free for students ~ they offer free postcards at the entrance! It is small, won’t take a long time to visit.

The museum was small, but we liked the exhibits and the minimalist feel. The person at the front desk could have been friendlier and it would have been nice to have received some direction or instructions. We followed the arrows on the floor, because we can figure things out ourselves. Unfortunately, the people who came in after us really needed those instructions because they went in the opposite direction of the arrows and walked into us. Not cool during COVID.

Extremely small space that will take about 45 minutes to view if you take your time. Do not bring kids here as they will be bored out of their mind and you won't enjoy it. Short walk from the Winchester train station. On the weekends you can park right out front of the museum with no problems. There's plenty of place to eat in the downtown area that you can walk to a great little bookstore and coffee shops to spend some time in also. Would combine with something else to make a half day out of the visit.

I haven’t gone here in years, but had a friend from out of town and decided to go there. There was an exhibit of photographs that were taken by high school seniors for an honors project. Very interesting and mature. A very good take in which took about 40 minutes.

I'm a manager of visitor services at a museum and must say that the woman at the admissions desk on 3/17/19 was more than a little rude.
When I was planning a visit to the museum for my girlfriend and myself I had checked their website for the hours and pricing. I found the former, but not the latter. When we entered the building my girlfriend noticed a small sign asking guests to check in at the admissions desk. We walked to the desk to find it unattended. We waited quietly, listening to hear if anybody else was in the building. There wasn't anyone there that we could tell so we walked into the main gallery. While looking at the photos we heard footsteps. I assumed that if it was the admissions person they would come to greet us and let us know that they had returned and that we should check in. (I'm certain that we were also heard as well because we were walking, talking, and I sneezed loudly.) When we walked back into the admissions space the woman at the desk paid us no attention. I looked at her and smiled, but she was doing work and didn't notice. When we were about to leave I picked up a book under a sign that said it was free and I looked to the woman and said "Thank you" with a smile. She cocked her head and said "you know, there is an admissions fee" in a scolding tone. I paid the admission ($7 each) and put a dollar in the donation box by the door on my way out. Her treatment of us really soured the experience. Otherwise, it was a wonderful museum.

Winchester has a great museum thanks to Arthur Griffin, who was the exclusive photographer for the Boston Globe Magazine 1930's- 1980's and the New England photographer for Life and Time magazines. The museum is located in the center of town on the lovely Mill Pond. Arthur's photographs as well as other well-known, emerging and local photographers are exhibited. Exhibits are of a quality that they are regularly reviewed in the Boston Globe and occasionally by the New York Times and they are always innovative and creative. Whenever you have an opportunity to be in Boston, it is worth checking what is on exhibit at the Griffin. The museum is open Tues-Sun noon-4 pm (Thurs is free).

Unfortunately I caught this between shows so there were just a few images up from the last show. The visit was sort of impacted by the staff person being kind of dismissive and unfriendly. I am a new member of the museum and was treated as if I were an irritating presence at an awkward time.
The Griffin has a bette reputation than it showed me and I will return based on reputation, but a less informed person would be turned away for good.

We had our company's 10th Anniversary party at the Griffin and it was beautiful! The space itself is amazing, the art on the walls was fascinating, and the evening was warm enough for us to enjoy the Winchester Rotary Terrace just off of the main gallery. The perfect venue for your next event!

For people who love interesting things, The Griffin Museum, admittedly off of the mainstream track, has, with its many installations, improved and educated the eyes of anyone who has taken the time to explore. It is a wonderment!

We visited on the pretense of staying for half an hour but ended up walking around for 2! The atmosphere and patrons are wonderful!
