Wonderful staff with excellent programs to keep kids reading. I especially like the dogs that come to be read to.

I go here maybe about twice a year or so now; when I was young, I used to go there every week. This is a medium-sized library with lots of books, but only a few computers. Free attached parking lot. This is now part of the Bay County Library System. It used to be the oldest continuously-open library in the state, but it was shut down for a while about 20 years ago due to budget issues. It is back open now, and has been re-done to include wheelchair access. Nice fountain statue out front. One-hour limit on the computers per person per day.

The other library in town may be larger; but this 1884 architectural gem, is certainly our favorite.
Both outside, and in; the detail is wonderful, historical, and aesthetically pleasing.
One can read the building's history on the plaque out front; and augment the information from the welcoming and informative staff within.
The inside has been updated; but the restoration holds to the structure's roots (with warm woodwork throughout), and still maintains some original detail (fireplace, etc.).
Outside; Leda & the Swan, and The Lady of Learning still welcome visitors today.
This is a magnificent option; for one to enter and enjoy a historic, yet still very viable, architectural treasure.

I took my daughter to the Sage Library recently to sign up for the summer reading program. I hadn't been in there in years. When I walked in with her, I was so happy to see that it is still as I remember it. The children's section of the library is so drawing to the kid's eyes. And the amount of books is just wonderful. The people that work there are so extremely friendly and helpful. I couldn't have been more pleased.

The library is 3 stories and is housed in this beautiful old building. It has a beautiful sitting area with a fireplace where you can spend you day reading. It does have an elevator. The library hosts a summer reading program for adults and children as well as children story hours.

I love Sage and it's old front brick facade with sculptures. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I've had several excellent recommendations for fiction there. You can place a hold on your favorite authors and they will call for pick up. Beautiful water fountain in front as well.

I literally grew up at this library...I had to visit historical sites and this was one of them...the tour was great and I never really knew how significant my local library was. There are still original fixtures of the library and I still remember when the second floor was the children's section and I would run up the stairs to see the fireplace with all the Greek stories/characters designed on the tiles. Would highly recommend this place to those who have never been there. The fountain is beautiful so try to go when it's warmer.

If you like history and architecture visit this library. It is a beautiful building inside and out. They did have to take away some of its beauty by adding on to accommodate the elevator for handicap accessibility, but its still worth visiting

Great library on the West side of Bay City. Have spent many hours there and witnessed the changes to a more modern computer based system from the old card catalogue system. The ambience and peace in the reading rooms have always remained the same. The architecture and the materials used in building this structure are something to be admired in their own right.
