This home is a true treasure to the era it was built. The tour guide gave a good tour with some amazing information. Thank you to the Trust and Family for allowing others to see this beautiful and well preserved home.

We were very disappointed that the mansion was closed due to renovations. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed our walk but we really wanted to see the mansion.

Stewardship of Fair Lane, Henry & Clara Ford's estate, is by the same organization that operates the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House. Fair Lane is going through a multi-year restoration, in order to bring it back to the way it looked when Henry and Clara lived in it. Eventually, Fair Lane, which was finished in 1915, will become a show house for historic tours.
While you can visit the estate and walk around the grounds, the interior of the house is closed to visitors until the restoration is complete.
Henry and Clara Ford were not ostentatious people, and the design of Fair lane reflects that. While its large, it has 56 rooms, It's not a particularly grand estate. You won't see a whole lot of ornate details on the exterior. It does though have a European flavor that I like.
Fair Lane sits along the Rouge River and I suspect when it was built, looked even more pretty than it does now. The grounds of the estate are beautiful and well maintained. In the Rose garden, there are statues of Henry and Clara. There's no charge to visit this wonderful historic estate.
I look forward to seeing the interior of the house when the restoration is complete.

The Ford museum is a must see if you have an interest in American transportation. So much to see. It’s really hard to take everything in on one visit. I especially enjoyed the Presidential vehicles. Don’t miss the display of airplanes, locomotives and automobiles. A walk through isn’t really enough. I had part of an afternoon to see this so I am barely touching what is contained. We plan on another visit next summer.

This place was amazing to see. With all the resources that Henry Ford had his wife just wanted a plain house to live in. It was not what I expected but I was impressed.

This was a very beautiful mansion but unfortunately couldn't tour the inside it was closed for renovations. Walked the grounds what a beautiful property. I will definitely be coming back once you are able to tour the house.

House is closed for renovations although the gardens are open. We toured today with the rain; therefore, we were the only one's walking around. The grounds are beautiful and quite expansive. Viewing the house from the outside is not near as fun as an inside tour; nevertheless, it was fun. Note: No restrooms available and cost admission is free.

Unfortunately, the 31,000-square-foot limestone mansion with 56 rooms that was home to Ford Motor Company founder Henry Ford and his wife Clara for more than 30 years has been closed during restoration. But visitors can view the magnificent structure and other historic buildings on the 1,300-acre estate along the Rouge River and also explore the grounds from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. Admission is free. Located at 1 Fair Lane Drive in Dearborn, Michigan, near the Henry Ford Museum, the house was built between 1913 and 1915, after the booming success of Ford's Model T. It was more than a house. It was a private laboratory space for Ford's tinkering and discoveries and a retreat to discuss ideas with friends Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone and John Burroughs. The estate, called Fair Lane after an area in County Cork in Ireland where Ford's adoptive grandfather was born, also includes an electrical power plant, greenhouse, boathouse, riding stables, children's playhouse, treehouse and extensive gardens designed by Chicago landscape architect Jens Jensen. Frank Lloyd Wright had a hand in designing the house, which is a mix of English castle and Prairie Style, European grandeur and Midwestern charm. The estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966. The Ford Fairlane automobile model, sold between 1955 and 1970 in the United States and between 1959 and 2007 in Australia, was named after the Fair Lane estate.

Very nice place and the house is beautiful, could not go in but peeked in the windows. Beautiful inside, Grounds are very nice also

Unfortunately the estate property is under renovation which means the buildings are not accessible right now. We still enjoyed walking the beautiful grounds and getting some feel for the Ford lifestyle. Very nice walking path on the campus adjacent to the estate.

No, not yet. I walked there yesterday and still a lot of work going on. The official site allows you to follow progress, but even they list no tentative reopening date.
