Great Trail! Paved and easy to walk. Gives a nice view of the Henry Ford Estate. Beautiful waterfall on trail. Easy to access.

The trail that passes behind Andiamos Restaurant on Michigan Avenue is thickly wooded, and serene. And it takes you right to the front door of Fair Lane, the estate of Henry Ford built in 1915. The meadow next to the house leads to a network of wooded trails that wander for miles.

River Rouge Path: East end of Andiamo's Parking Lot all the way to Hines Park. This is a really beautiful area to walk through in fragrant forest and the many bridges over the Rouge River, paved path for joggers, bikers, casual walkers...etc.
You will be able to view the Henry Ford Estate on your left and The UM-Dearborn's beautiful campus on the right, walking south to north. The Environmental Interpretive Center (on your left) maintains Rain Gardens, Organic Garden, Mushroom Garden & Bee-Keeping of UM-Dearborn. Then you walk behind Henry Ford College (on the right) and down to your left is a walkway to Hines over another bridge and under Ford Road. Enjoy!

I changed into my cold weather walking clothes and searched for this trail. There isn’t one. You can walk alongside noisy and potentially dangerous highways with no apparent crossing points and that’s all. Yes there is a river but you can’t walk down to it unless you want to scale huge chain link fences and get locked up...

This trail is about 2 miles through woods and the back of University of Michigan and Henry Ford C0ommunity College. If you want a longer ride or run, just continue onto the Hines Drive paved path. It goes all the way to Northville, about 30 miles. Hines drive is closed to vehicular traffic on Saturdays in seasonal months from 9 to 5, making the entire 30 miles very enjoyable for runners, bicyclists, and most uniquely, the unicyclists who ride here.

We enjoyed exploring this trail. The only downside was construction in one part, but it was easy to find our way around it - although, I don't like riding on busy roads! The trail goes along a busy highway; but you are far enough away to feel safe. The area is scattered with mini-parks with plenty of restrooms. There are some sections that go into the parks through wooded areas and along the river. It was nice to see the trail so busy even on weekdays!

Upon arrival by bus you enter a purpose built hall with theatres and exhibits.
Station 1 shows a 13 minute movie on Henry Ford and the history of the Ford Motor Company. After completion
you move to Station 2 whcih is another threatre showing a F150 coming out of the stage and being built with robots. There are all kinds of special effects. NOTE: The music is loud and there is flashing lights and laser lights for those with sensitivities. This lasts about 10 minutes and personally I could have done without this stage. Next the group moves into the Legacy Gallery where a variety of Ford vehicles made at the Rouge are on display. There is a small gift shop in the gallery and seating for those note taking in the movies. Next it's up the elevator to the elevated walkway where one can watch various stages of F150 assembly being done. We had about 25 minutes to wal around the entire platform. This part is very interesting and can be a bit loud. Finally its up the elevator to the 5th floor to the observation deck where you can overlook the entire Rouge site. A small living laboratory display was present to show the living roof plants and solar arrays.
Very enjoyable although I would have skipped the second movie to spend the extra time overlooking the assembly plant.

This was a very interesting tour! It starts with the very 'wowing' Imax feel movie of how the Ford plant came to be many years ago and the joys and difficulties it went through. The other 'Wow-ing" Imax type movie was on how they assemble the vehicles in short order. They are very loud so prepare yourself. Nicely done. The walking tour is so awesome! Being able to view the actual assembly process at assorted stages was very eye opening. Watching the base floor of the vehicle go through the belts and how the workers in a repetitive, comfortable order add the seats, consoles, mirrors, carpets, wiring in the dash and doors, etc. Wow! The way the items were restocked as needed and how it all blended together was amazing! It was neat also to see the robots do certain stages of the vehicle, such as inserting the windows and final inspections. It was intriguing watching the back and fronts of the trucks came together. I wondered if they ever got a mixed vehicle color (a blue cab and a red box). They said it has happened, but very rarely. The docents are very willing to answer questions. Very well done!

Sorry, I can't unselect the trail...it should be the Rouge Factory Tour. Better than I expected, nicely done.

This is a great factory tour because you can travel and watch at you own pace. The downside is that it only includes a small part of the manufacturing process. Mainly just cab assembly
