Enjoyed this so much! Traveled from Massachusetts to see the dunes and they surpassed expectations! Silver Lake buggy rentals was incredibly professional! They were able to accommodate my mix up w reservation time no problem. The guide that showed us the dunes was very helpful. The major benefit was having our own vehicle to do what we wanted, when we wanted. Nice beach area to eat and dip our toes into Lake Michigan. Plenty of options for low risk or high thrills out there. Visited on a Wednesday and not very crowded. Highly recommend this business!

We had a great experience! The process of getting signed in, safety trained and shuttled was super smooth. The short guided tour before heading out on our own was great! The process of getting picked up and shuttled back to our car worked out perfectly on a busy weekend.

Really nice staff. They also sell transition goggles, anti-fog goggles, and other types of goggles, good for motorcycles too. There is some sort of little amusement park across the street that has a zipline that 2 people can sit on going down. I would recommend at least 3 hrs to get a understanding of the lay out of the dunes. The map was confusing. It would be extremely helpful if there was a marker (like waze) that indicated where you are at on the map. Also, I think the water should be black on map. I was told there are fewer people in the AM. It's cheaper then too. Get the $40 insurance. Someone in our group didn't, had a breakdown, lost time, and regretted it. Also, it's not difficult to get up 'Test Hill,' don't be scared. However, go on a spot that isn't dark (turned up sand). There is a drag strip where people race to the right of the larger mounds where Test Hill is when facing the run. But there is a traffic driving strip immediately first, then, the racing strip. It really should be marked. There is also a huge area for hiking only and a large beach. People just drive any vehicle up to park and hang out at beach and other spots. I had A BLAST!!!!

The staff was accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable. We were first-timers, so we appreciated the opportunity to ride along on a dune tour before beginning our allotted time. Also, a thunderstorm rolled in about ten minutes into our time on the dunes. The staff was quick to advise us to leave the dunes. They had the buses waiting for us to keep us dry while time storm passed, a fact I mention because customers of another company joined us on the bus since that other company didn't have a way to keep their customers out of the rain. For at least one set of other customers, Silver Lake Buggy Rentals happily rescheduled their time on the dunes to a different day. They offered us the same opportunity, but we waited out the storm and were glad we did--there was very little traffic on the dunes after the storm cleared. To that end, the staff was vigilant about not sending us back out too soon, paying attention to radars and what their staff on the dunes was seeing in person. Since the storm came in so soon, they restarted our time and let us enjoy a full two hours on the dunes. They obviously take pride in their jobs and their equipment. We had a lot of fun.

Loved the Teryx 4 seater rental we had for 3 hours. Short and informative safety video. We loved the tour (which was in addition to our rental time) of the dunes so we understood each area. Our 3 hour time rental provided us the perfect amount of time on the dunes. Our child and I took a break and enjoyed Lake Michigan for a short time as well.
We went out on a Wednesday morning and we enjoyed the smaller amount of people out on the dunes. This 4-wheeling dune day was one of our favorite parts of vacation.

We had a great time, Mark showed us the lay of the land and gave us first timers some tips and we took it from there. Check in and out process was quick and I would highly recommend for some sand fun!

We had a blast. Took my 84 yr old mother, she laughed like a girl. Especially liked the guided tour around the dunes and traffic patterns explained all before our time started.

This was off-the-charts fun! We arrived around 7pm for the sunset tour. You ride in your own buggy, but follow the guide. Jim was our guide and you should ask for him. He stopped a few times and took family photos for us, he took us down to the beach for a show stopper of a sun set. The next day we went back and rented for a two our excursion. We had a blast on our own. The dunes are so high, and a little intimidating but you soon get the lay of the land and get more daring. Their check in was easy, they have a safety video that gives you rules of the dunes. We also looked at other companies who offer the same thing, but this place has a family feel to it and they want you to have the best time and make the best memories with your family.

Is it possible for three small children (twin 6 year olds and an 8 year old) to ride in the back seat together?

Not sure about that - you have to wear safety belts. They had a 4 seater ATV. Not sure if they have a 5 seater. We did see some small kids out there - don't know how old they were though. Check out the Silver Lake Buggy Rental site. It might say, or try emailing them.

Yes, you are shown where you can go, and it's pretty much everywhere in the vehicle area. There is some dunes off limits to the vehicles and it is roped off for pedestrian safety. There are some traffic rules. There are 2 sections of the park that are one way only. You are required to watch 5 minute safety video, and when renting the Teryx vehicles, they provide a guided tour before you are let loose.

We might be traveling with our two dogs but would like to do a buggy rental. Is it possible to take them out with us on the buggy or is there a kennel on site we can keep them in while we are out on the buggy?
