Shocking experience

We had a shocking experience at the Cradle of Life when we booked in for a night. We arrived during a storm and could not get into the property after a 6 hour drive. After hooting and phoning for 30 minutes eventually the gate was opened for us. I was shocked by the condition of our chalet. There were empty beer cans lying around the outside in the flower beds. One of the bathrooms was flooded, not enough chairs to sit on for the number of people accommodated. One of the chalets had no cutlery and when we requested some it was filthy. One of the toilets had vomit stains that were so old the cleaners could not remove them I asked for a kettle so that we could boil water, this was promised but never arrived. The chalet itself was disgusting and had not been properly cleaned for months. I eventually resorted to sleeping in my car. There was only 1 bath towel supplied and a few hand towels. Granted the bedding appeared to be clean enough but was difficult to say as there was no power(due to the storm). We had to ask for candles so that we had some light. We also paid cash for one of the chalets, no receipt was offered. I would not advise that one considers staying here. We had read a few poor reviews before arriving and called to ask if we would experience the same problems. We were promised that we would be happy and extra effort would be made to make sue everything was clean and ready. Clearly nothing was done, they were only too happy to take our money. Never again.

Visiting Cradle of Life

We took our grandchildren to view the feeding of the lions and other carnivores. The place is under new management and there is a challenge to get the place back to a good standard after the previous owners let the place slide and deteriorate. The drive was great for the grandchildren and they enjoyed it thoroughly. I believe over time this place will again be a very good attraction.

Worst food I have ever had

The food at the restaurant was shocking.literally the worst I have ever had.

The lady serving us was friendly, though.

Neglected but improving.

This is a great location and concept but maintenance has been neglected for a period of time. New management is starting to make a difference, but there is still a lot to do before it reaches an acceptable standard.

Very pleasant under new management.

I went with my family to Cradle of Life. We booked a morning game-drive as well as feeding the predators, which was really nice. The animals looked well cared for and the drive was relaxing. It was a really nice experience.

We decided to go earlier so we can grab breakfast which was also really nice. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious and overall we had a good experience. The food did take a bit of time, but nothing to be concerned about.

This place has great potential, I’ve heard it went a bit downhill the last few years, but I honestly believe the new management is doing the effort to grow and getting it back on track.

I hope to stay in the chalets next time, we drove past it, and it looked really nice too.

Breakfast stop

We were in the area and decided to stop for a quick breakfast. As you walk in, friendly receptionists point you in the direction of an alley filled with beautiful crystals, ancients rocks and interesting geology. The restaurant overlooking a duck pond and classic African landscapes makes for a relaxing meal.
The food and service on the other hand is not glamorous... we had a classic bacon and scrambled egg breakfast, but the bacon was fatty and the eggs was watery and cold. I suppose you don't visit the place for the food, but for the wildlife they have to offer.

From bad to worse

Absolutely no service. Sat down, waited 20min for service, went to see the manager and asked for service, she came and slammed the menus down at the table, and dissapeared again. After another 20mins we left.

The animals there were beautiful and the guide we had was very helpful and informative but we did have to wait a bit before going on the tour. This is a definite must visit.

Great drive
