We have been going to the wineries around the Traverse City area for about 3 years. We drink quite a bit of wine but, don’t consider ourselves “stuffy” in any way. We visited 4 different locations this trip and there was one that truly shined. 2 Lads Winery has a beautiful location in a very modern building but, the true beauty lies in the experience the staff curated. This was the only winery that offered a free sample of a wine when we arrived. Jess welcomed all of us at the table listening to what we like to drink, taking the time to explain the complimentary glass, the other wines and tasting experiences they offer. I’ve worked in hospitality and this winery focused on our experience, they truly grasp the concept of taking care of people like they’re friends, not customers.
We decided to have 2 different flights, one white and one red, both were complex with just enough floral & fruit forward notes for easy drinking. I prefer the big reds and my husband likes the lighter, brighter varieties. We were able to find wines that we could both could agree on, which is a huge bonus! Karl made us a delicious charcuterie board that was enough for 4, the most complete culinary offering we’ve ever had at a winery!
After talking more with Jess about 2 Lads mission and how they conduct their wine club we decided to join! There are no fees to join and you can select 6 wines twice a year which works well for us. There were also perks with the wine club that no one else offers. We are very excited about going up in May to select and pickup our Spring wine club selections.

Used our Winter Wine Pass……views are unbelievable. Very friendly staff and tasty mulled wine! Will definitely return on our next trip!

The wine at 2 Lads is really excellent. Far and away the best we’ve had in the Grand Traverse Bay Area. The view from the tasting bar was lovely, but the real reason to come here is the excellent wine.

At the top of the peninsula, this is one of the more modern wineries I have been too. The building is overlooking the lake on top of a hill with all glass walls. We were able to sneak in without having reservations for a tasting, but highly recommended as space is limited. They had preselected flights to choose from both dry and sweet. We ended up not leaving with a bottle, but quickly regretted it and came back for the bottle of the Riesling. Beautiful place, and great place to go with a group.

Beautiful location, great wines, awesome food and great staff. The young lady who served us was awesome. You can’t go wrong here. Will be back for sure.

We have been to 2Lads a few times over the years and unfortunately our last visit was not met with expectations.
The selection of wines for tasting was very limited (6-7 at best) and how tastings are operated are not conducive for someone looking to try and find a wine they like.
Now you have to buy a flight and it was 3 (2oz) pours for $15. Or you could buy by the half or full glass, but this doesn’t help if you are not sure what you like.
But for the wine enthusiast, you’ll enjoy your visit and the view over the bay is great.

This is undoubtedly the very best wine in north Michigan…..we tried all the best vineyards on our ten day road trip searching for excellent wines for our business.Unfortunately all the reds we hoped to try were unavailable but the wines they had were excellent and the server was very professional ,enthusiastic and passionate about their offering.
The vineyard itself is beautifully located,the building stunning and the fizz exceptionally good.
We were grateful for the complimentary crackers,cheese dip and water too.

Visiting the Traverse City area for a few days, my wife and I spent an afternoon visiting the wineries on Old Mission peninsula. 2 Lads was our favorite. Great wines, beautiful view and excellent service. First wine club we've ever joined and look forward to our next shipment. Friendly and knowledgeable servers, wonderful views, and, of course, good wine make for a worthwhile stop.

We were visiting the peninsula for our anniversary and after visiting the Black Star Farms they recommended we go up to Mission Point Lighthouse and then visit the vineyards on our trip back down the peninsula. Great suggestion! They also recommended we start our decent at 2 Lads so we did!
We arrived at their entrance to find a sign that read, “Reservations preferred, Walk-ins Welcome” So you can imagine our disappointment when they found out we didn’t have reservations. The hostess told us that she didn’t have any openings but we could go outside and sit on the lawn and get service from their outside walk up bar.
I didn’t see a way to do a tasting this way and there were no servers out amongst us “castaways”!
I think they have to be more flexible with their business model and acknowledge that people enjoying a sunny ride back from Mission Point aren’t looking to make reservations and they shouldn’t be made to feel like they’re not welcome, contrary to what their sign said.
