Excellent hiking with many miles to explore. A must go in the fall if you would like to be surrounded by vibrant greens, yellows, and those flaming reds!

This is a large and beautiful park of rolling woodland and prairie hills. We staying in the Muskie camper cabin, and were pleasantly surprised by how cool it stayed in inside during the hot days. Because we were in an area with just two other cabins, we found it feeling quiet and remote. We took a brief dip in the lake - there is a small beach and a large grassy area with sun and shade. We took a number of hikes, and drove the park driving trail. We were impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of all the staff we met. The shower/bathroom building is old, but the park is in line for a new building.

We took the kids to a little sandy beach. It was clean and a pretty quiet area. There were picnic tables and shade too. We will be back!

We went to Maplewood state park to do a little hiking.
We did Haloway’s hill. It was a nice hike. It’s a little over a mile out and back, and goes up about 150-200 feet. There is a great view from the top.

The park itself is beautiful. Wonderful habitat for waterfowl. The campground infrastructure needs some updating - shower house, etc.
We stayed in a cabin, which was crawling with ticks on the deck. Must be a bad tick season. We’ll go back again in the fall when the insects have died down a little.

We did some hiking and drove around some. The park was super busy! Hats off to the park ranger that greeted us and told us to stop and buy our pass. Every single car she greeted with a smile and a ton of enthusiasm! As we were leaving, a few hours later, we saw the same lady still greeting everybody with the same enthusiasm. Made me smile! :) the park itself was super pretty with the leaves turning. Great place to go for the day, have a picnic, or even bring your horse.

Beautiful park for camping and hiking. Camp sites in the Grass Lake campground are spaced a good distance from each other with just a couple exceptions. We were there 10/11-14/20 and the Fall colors were great. Even as the trees became bare, the ground below was carpeted in multi-colored leaves. Stunning. There is a 5 mile "Prairie Restoration" drive within the park that is definitely worth doing, especially in the Fall. There are 30 miles of hiking trails in this park. The ones we did were well groomed. Water was turned off 10/14 and the park was out of firewood to purchase but that's common this time of year as some of the State Park campgrounds get ready to close for the winter.

Absolutely beautiful colors in the fall with all of the changing leaves! Lots of easy walking paths - great weekend or day trip :)

The leaves were changing and gorgeous! Hollaway Hill was worth the short uphill walk. All trails are good. There isn't a bad one. If you have horses, it is a great way to see the park areas, and the camping is great. We hiked this time, due to Covid, and did not bring our horses. The hiking was great with spectacular views!
Will definitely be back to do more of the trails.

Very nice park with a nice swimming area and a great family hike. Bathrooms/changing area closed by the beach otherwise great place to social distance and enjoy nature.

I haven't biked myself, but certainly you can bike on the roads. I have seen other campers biking. I don't thing the off road trails can be biked on though.
