The new location is already closed. Businesses around it said it only lasted about 6 weeks. I hear that another winery is taking over the original location.

When we pulled up we were little worried because we couldn’t see the winery! FYI it’s hidden in corner.
But as we walked in Larry was very inviting. He was so personable with stories to tell! We instantly related to him as if we were in his home! The wine was sensational too! Sara was just as kind and fun! This place was a blast. Low key and good fives! Worth the visit and try the peach moonshine!!!! Applesauce moonshine was delightful too!!!

We stopped in and did a free wine tasting and ended up leaving with 8 bottles of wine! Fun stop with great wine and a fun atmosphere. The staff went out of their way to keep us happy. Don't trust the Google maps address call ahead and get the real address it is attached to the back of a verizon store and very easy to miss. Stop in and have a drink!

My wife and I live pretty close to Casa de Loco, in Springfield, MO, and have been regular visitors, river floated once and stayed overnight twice. It is an eclectic experience that is great fun if approached correctly.
The wine is sourced out of California and, for my taste is the best California wine bottled in Missouri. Larry owns vineyards in California and uses his own grapes and others from California. It isn't really a fair comparison but Casa wines are simply better than other Missouri sourced wines...in my opinion. Larry knows a whole lot about producing wine for those interested enough and polite enough to listen, but he does not suffer fools well. If you would much rather talk than listen, he may say something less generous than your typical customer service rep. If you're polite and inquisitive, you will get along great with Larry. He may even give you some freebies. He is very gregarious when on a roll.
Staying at Casa carries the same warning. We've stayed at Casa twice, once is the nicer "Honeymoon Suite" at the end of the property. Once again, it has nice eclectic accommodations. If you don't expect the Ritz Carton, you will be better prepared. The road is crazy bad for a vineyard or motel, but we consider it part of the Loco experience. There are laughably funny names for roads connecting to Casa's actual road, which ends as a dirt road. Just keep going straight until you turn left at the end and climb the hill.
We haven't smelled the sewer at Casa before, but they are no doubt on a septic tank and could have an odor problem at times. However, I have been stung by a scorpion in the Honeymoon Suite; that was not the piece of tail I wanted. Did it ruin the trip. No, it felt like a wasp sting and we laughed about it with the housekeeper who said they try their best to control them but they still occasionally get inside. They are tough little buggers.
We also did some unauthorized sightseeing and got our car stuck in gravel by the river. My bad. We floated the river the day before and wanted to putter around in the kayaks...that was authorized by Larry. Larry gave us the local tow truck number but wasn't invested in the problem we created for ourselves. As I said earlier, he does not seem to suffer fools easily. The tow truck operator seemed very familiar with the gravel bar and got us out relatively quickly for $100...my bad.
The scorpion and the stuck car happened on the same trip, but I would still give it a 4+ star rating. We had a very nice float and had great wine tastings with Larry and his staff. Larry is absolutely at his best when you know something about wine and you give him the respect to listen to a person who knows more than you. If you play the Ugly American role, then Larry will be less open or maybe even ugly too.
My wife and I are regulars at Casa, in both locations, and always buy wine when there. Casa wine does not make it to any super markets we've seen and it is really good. Try and then buy some. With regard to Larry, you've been warned. If you do your part to meet the guy we call "Happy Larry" you could have the best, most informative wine tasting of your life. If you have an attitude, and you probably know who you are, then you should probably drive by.

First off, we didn't realize the winery was being renovated and relocated into town. I'm very happy, however, that we made the mistake. We arrived at the location under renovation and the view is breathtaking. We took several pictures and then called the winery. We were served by Larry (owner) and Crystal. Both were a delight and we enjoyed our conversations with them. Having a good host makes a trip to a winery all the better and they both fit the bill.
The Casa Cooler is amazing. I bought 6 containers to take back to Indiana with us. I've never seen a champagne on draft like that! We bought a couple other bottles of wine, including Kona, which was infused with coffee beans and cocoa beans. If you are a coffee drinker you MUST try this!
In all, a fantastic experience. Thank you, Larry and Crystal. We hope to be back at some point in the near future and book a weekend at your winery!

By far the best winery at the lake, best wines best people. They truly know wine and answer all questions, went to Shawnee bluff because the owner of casa built them, but the new owner Gail has destroyed it. So glad casa is still the great place it has always been. A must every time we are in the area

We try to always make a visit to this quaint little winery on a hill when we are in this area. If for nothing than the view. The facility used to be an old insane asylum (thus the name Casa de Loco "House of the Crazy"). It's a little ways out of the way and up on a hill overlooking a river. The views are stunning. Grab a glass of your favorite wine after tasting their varieties and sit out on one of the many many decks overlooking the Ozark country and it will make a super nice afternoon!!

A smile goes a long way. The woman at the counter was rude on the phone, and was worse in person. The video that the owner has on the website is just about the most misleading representation of any where we have ever stayed. And we have stayed in 45.00 a night motels in Mexico. At Least the places we had stayed in Mexico had a pleasant staff. Not only was the owner rude and arrogant, he screamed at us upon booking. The rooms smelled musty, the shower, which was the only thing that made the room interesting, was broken. They do wood fired pizzas, and all of the wood was wet. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!! The whole place smelled like sewage. Which is scary, the river is down a valley below. The claim that he gets all of his ingredients from Italy is absurd. He was behind a curtain cutting a log of Kraft cheese for his cheese and cracker trays. All and all, we got our money returned. If you want a nice experience, go Anywhere else. Sorry we wasted our time and gas to travel there.

GPS stopped working a few minutes away so some better signing might have been helpful...but it was still fun! Interesting street names along the way, and final approach was a narrow drive up a little hill...We laughed the whole way there!
Wine tasting was fun and server very friendly, and we loved the names of the wines; i.e. Labottleme Zinfandel, Redneck Therapy...two of my favorites. We're planning a trip in 2016 and it will definitely include another visit to Casa De Loco!!
Oh, and the view was amazing...and the gift shop had cute wine-related items!
