A piece of Australian history - a few rooms with furniture, the rest had information but set up like a small museum. Don't miss the rest of Richmond - had a lovely walk through the village.

This place was shut, despite a sign outside saying it was open every day. . The lady across the road said it usually is shut, and that it is run down. We were disappointed.

The Oak Lodge is a beautiful example of early colonial architecture built around 1830. Many of the features have been maintained from earlier time periods eg. Drs surgery which once ran from part of the house, and school room which ran in one of the upstairs rooms. The building is owned, maintained and run by the local historical society.

We saw so many National Trust properties in Tasmania and this may have been my favourite. That's mainly because it's so original and untouched, and is such a quirky house built on many different floors, it's like a tardis. They have carefully preserved everything including the fascinating doctor's surgery it was once used as, and the school. The history of the house is amazing. I really loved it :)

An interesting old home, it has been a private school, and a doctors surgery in the past. Run by volunteers and part of The National Trust of Tasmania, this building is beautifully kept with lovely gardens and a wealth of knowledge about its past.

This well maintained historic house is beautifully presented by its carers. Step back in time - from the cobblestone paving and evidence of horse tie off points on the street, to the old kitchen and school rooms it is an immersive experience.
